Not fine art or edgy, iconoclastic art, but cheerful, accessible — and friendly — art from regional artists and hobbyists. Located in midtown, so a definite drive from the galleries, hotels and tourist sights downtown, Dos Manos is not necessarily a destination for art tourists. Still, if you’ve rented a car and are coming back into town from exploring the surrounding area, it’s a pleasant stop and a good place to find inexpensive scenic prints, jewelry and various non-cringeworthy tchotchkes related to Alaska.

Dos Manos is a hidden gem for travellers to Alaska: filled with handmade artwork created by Alaskans from all over the State, ranging from art cards and limited run t-shirts all the way up to gorgeous sculptures and oil paintings that reflect the artists experience and perception of life in the Last Frontier. You're not likely to run into moose dropping swizzle sticks here, but you may see octopus ink prints of fishing boats done by an Aleutian local. Tip: this is directly across Northern Lights Blvd from Title Wave, the premier book store in Alaska. There is additional parking behind the building, which it shares with the Bear Tooth theatre & restaurant.
