We went for a walk in the wetland area of San Francisco Bay. This is a very pretty area. There is an interpretive center to tell one more about the area.

The main highlight is you're right beside the Bay Marshlands and the walking trails are wonderful. The Interpretive Center is part of the Hayward Area Recreation Department -- HARD and they seek to help visitors understand there is so MUCH more going on in the Bay lands than may be apparent. Eg. It's a salt marsh, there's tons of wildlife of many kinds. The Interpretive Center does excellent tours for school groups and likely others.

I couldn’t get as much as I wanted from this visit since the center was closed, but I was happy to find it...

I went there to take pictures of birds. But in the half an hour I was there I only saw a mother stilt with two young chicks that was worth taking a picture. There were some sparrows and some small birds that flew by real fast. It was a disappointing outing. The staff at the interpretive center was very nice and explained to us what kind of birds to expect, but the center itself had been stripped of its displays, perhaps they were in the middle of putting up new material.

Great views of the Hayward Salt Marsh wetlands with excellent area interpretive displays inside. Guided school tours are excellent!
