tripadvisorHarris has had several plays that are performed by non professionals. The plays are varied in theme but performed well by the local talented players. Excellent way to spend date night. Cost is affordable for most couples watching their budget.
MoreI enjoy dropping in here to see the changing exhibits, whether of regional artists or local school art classes. It's also fun to take a peek at what's being made or practiced upstairs, where lessons are given. November to early December is really special because of the display/silent auction Festival of Trees; likewise, the weeks preceding Easter for the Easter baskets. Though a donation vase is ready to receive gifts, the exhibits are free to visit, as is the room that houses the unique Roland Hayes museum. When I'm looking for a special, handcrafted gift, I can always find one at the center's little gift shop, which features art and crafts by local artists. The Little Theater shows and the concerts I've seen/heard herehave been top-notch, worth the reasonable ticket prices. The reason I'm giving 4/5 and not 5/5, is due to the limited hours on T-Th (till 4) and Fri (till 2). Wish every day were like Monday, when they're open till 6!
MoreThere is always something of interest to see at Harris. The gift shop sells local artists' products. The play with the local talent are well done and enjoyable. i
Morethey have a friendly staff... Many activities are held at the arts center....Many exhibits to look at. Activities for children in the summer as well as other times of the year......Love the Christmas trees in December.
MoreA display of art work and creations is always available for viewing, and the Art Market is open all year. Marvelous place. Also, the Calhoun Little Theatre is presenting Every Christmas Story Ever Told (And Then Some) Dec. 2, 3, 9, 10 at 7:00 PM and Dec. 4 at 3:00 PM. This is a hilarious holiday comedy to get everyone in the Christmas spirit. Call 706-629-2599 for more information. In January, the theater will have a murder mystery audience participation dinner theater entitled Bordello of the Damned on January 27 & 28. The Harris Arts Center offers art classes, classes for children, and summer fun. I highly recommend you visit this wonderful place.
