Lovely museum with some interesting exhibits in the newly expanded space.Lots of interesting exhibits, but art, understandably is subjective, so enjoyment of the experience of your visit may depend on your taste and appreciation for the art, or art-style. It was interesting enough for me to visit the three floors of exhibits in about an hour and a half and while I did NOT read everything, I did read most of the descriptions/captions.Tickets range from $19-25 for most, free for those 18 and under. The museum is opened late on Thursday evenings, which is pay-what-you-wish after 7pm. The museum is also discounted to a $10 admission on Fridays in the Summer. I suggest taking advantage of one of the above discounted options, if possible. Great location, close to the 2nd Avenue, F Train Station and Bowery, J and Z Train Station. The Spring Street, 6 Train Station is also within walking distance. Also lots of eating options in the area.

The New Museum in New York presents itself as an engaging institution, yet the curatorial approach feels highly diffuse and uneven. Overall, the exhibitions leave a rather somber, at times oppressive impression and offer little in the way of art-historical framing or contextualization. It is also regrettable that the focus appears to rest so strongly and almost continuously on narratives of victimhood and suffering, which tends to push alternative perspectives on the works and their broader significance into the background.

Unfortunately, we only liked one room in the entire museum. The first exhibition at the top floor (don’t remember the name) was really emotional, visually appealing and actually had a message and a purpose (pictures attached). But the rest of the museum was not interesting for me.The building is interesting though, and the staff is kind. But I don’t think the current exhibit is good.As most museums in NYC, there’s a day per month when it’s free; so be sure to check that and make a reservation with time if you plan to visit.

The newly reopened museum is a huge disappointment and the opening show of its new iteration, New Humans: Memories of the Future was criminally bad. I've been there before many times and they had some wonderful shows. I saw absolutely nothing today that was of interest - what a disappointment. I felt as though I were in a cheap tourist trap with as many objects, lights and sounds begging for attention as possible. This might attract a crowd that knows nothing about art but it certainly won't be part of the NYC arts community. And despite being shut down for so long for expansion, they didn't really seem to improve anything! There's no way I will ever visit this museum again.

A small art museum - currently filled with a special exhibition of Judy Chicago - a feminist artist whose work spanned many decades. The exhibition is very well organized and displayed. For contemporary art lovers, well worth the visit.
