tripadvisorStayed for 3 nights this past weekend. Perfect location in the middle of anything you would want to do. Sheri Jones the Asst GM was more than helpful when both checking in/out and during our stay regarding great suggestions on places to eat and visit. Didn't catch his name but the parking attendant ran that lot like a champ and he to was very personable as was Sheri. Have stayed in SA a few times but never here but it's my go to place from now on. MoreBest Western Historical Inn located in St. Augustine, Florida is where we stayed these 2 nights and 4 other nights in the past 9 months. It's a very short drive down to the Fort and shops/restaurants. Atmosphere is a feel like you're family kind of place. Very clean, excellent staff! Nicely appointed, modern rooms with extremely comfortable beds & pillows! One of the best features is that they have a full-sized lovely suite on the second floor, right above the lobby! We were amazed at the spaciousness: 2 bedrooms, full kitchen with full-sized refrigerator & stove, separate dining room, large living room, & modern bathroom! Excellent price, for sure!! We couldn't get over the amazing value! The hotel is only 2 storeys and very peaceful and quiet -- it's easy to get a good night's sleep! There is no elevator, but there are several steps with a landing, which is helpful when carrying luggage. We love that they welcome our pets and we trade our favorite pet stories with each other. We also love their amenities: free breakfast, powerful hair dryer, ironing board, washer($2)/dryer($1) (in hallway), refrigerator/microwave/large flat-screen TV, plenty of tourist info in lobby, modern bathroom/shower.As for value, it's very reasonable & budget friendly! They have discounts for select groups, including senior citizens, military, etc. Also, you'll probably want to return there again & again, so I would definitely recommend becoming a member in order to earn points for each stay, earn free stays, & other valuable offers! It seems to me that the Best Western Historical Inn just may be one of St. Augustine's best-kept secrets! In that case, let's spread the word! On second thought, what am I doing giving this secret away?! I love how they always have room for me, my husband & our amazing dogs, Buddy & Foxy.
MoreThe room was okay and we've stayed here in the past. We go every 2 years with a group and this is where we stay. We were disappointed with the breakfast this time because they no longer have meat (bacon or sausage) except on weekends and we were there 4 nights, arriving on Monday and leaving on Friday. They also didn't have yogurt. I'm gluten free and am not a cereal eater so there was scrambled eggs one day and cheese omelets another but without meat to eat with them they were barely passable. I ate instant grits and a bite or two of eggs. For those who can eat waffles, they did still have those with some fresh fruit to put on it so that was good. We had 6 or 7 rooms there with our group. I'll definitely call ahead in 2 years to check on breakfast before I decide if I'll book there or choose another place. Breakfast is important to me for these trips because we are out riding motorcycles right after and I need food in my system.
MoreI did not end up staying at this property, but I want to share my experience with the booking process because it may matter to other travelers. The reservation appeared to indicate that payment would be collected at arrival, which reasonably implied flexibility if plans changed. Only later did I learn the reservation was non-refundable, with no grace period or escalation option—even when contacting Customer Care shortly after booking. This felt inconsistent with how non-refundable terms are typically communicated at comparable hotel brands. I’m not disputing the policy itself, but the disclosure was not clear enough at the point of purchase, and Customer Care was unwilling to offer any resolution or courtesy consideration. My recommendation to future guests is to double-check cancellation terms very carefully before confirming, especially if booking directly through the brand website.
MoreReally nice hotel. Well appointed and the staff was super friendly and helpful. It was close to everything we wanted to see. I would highly recommend it.
