I don't generally write reviews but I feel the need to share our experience today. Our driver talked a lot but didn't impart very much information that would educate us on the history of the amish, their culture, or their beliefs. The farms we visited were mostly rin down, poorly maintained and showed no evidence of being actually working farms. The tour mostly stopped at one shop or another with the driver promoting each business as if he were a partner. I would categorize the whole outing as an organized shopping trip and not a tour. The guide really should prepare an organized Informative briefing instead of making things up as we went along. Other than that, he was friendly and outgoing, answered all questions to the best of his ability, and was a careful driver.

Vern was our guide. Very knowledgeable. Worth a trip! I highly recommend. I called for reservations a few days in advance because the tour tends to sell out.

A very informative and fun tour to learn about the Amish, their heritage, everyday life today and browse/purchase their many home made goods from jams and salsas to quilts, baskets, soaps and furniture. Vern was our awesome tour guide and was very knowledgeable, his stories gave us a wonderful glimpse into the Amish life. It was a 3 hour tour with stops at 4-5 different Amish businesses. My husband cans salsa and pickles and had the opportunity to talk with some of the canners and compare recipes -- he was in 7th heaven! We also had the opportunity to visit inside an Amish home (no electric, no running water, minimalist living) they are hard working, funny and talented. I would highly recommend this tour!

Vern was a wonderful guide. He seemed to have genuinely positive relationships with the Amish folks we interacted with on the tour and was explicit with our group about how we should act in order to be respectful visitors. With 15 years of experience leading Amish tours, Vern was able to anticipate our questions and had what sounded like reliable information to share about a variety of topics related to the Amish and local history. We were glad to learn more about the Amish communities in SE Minnesota and be able to buy some of the homemade and handmade goods they had for sale.

We learned so much about the Amish and have a new appreciation for their way of living. Jeff was a wonderful tour guide. Thank you!
