The Cuban Club Philanthropy

With a history dating back to the nineteenth century, The Cuban Club has undergone a lot of changes, and has been christened quite a few times in the process. However, this place has retained its old charm that is evident from its architecture. The Cuban Club serves as a venue for ballroom parties, business and social gatherings and theater performances. From concerts to casino nights this place can be rented for various occasions. Although the original building was destroyed in a fire in 1916, this new structure exudes the same grandeur and serves the same purpose of community entertainment.

This wee place has one theatre, which includes a balcony that has tiered seating and one main floor that is all level so if you are seated behind someone tall, you are disadvantaged. The balcony has much better viewing and bathrooms on the same floor. The main floor appears to lack restrooms. There is also a dance floor in the basement with bathrooms, but this area is shut off if only the theatre is being used. Watch a small show here and the theatre suited the purpose very well. Due to its smaller size, it has a very intimate feel.

Just the absolutely worst place for a concert. The bathrooms are filthy. The bartenders are rude. I will not return.

I made my first visit to The Cuban Club to see the Armored Saint and Queensrÿche. I was not expecting this to be an outside venue. Club somehow seems to tell me that it will be an indoor place. Luckily, it was a cool December evening so that it wasn't scorching outside. Being an outdoor venue, the only bathrooms were Port-O-Johns. This makes for a terrible experience as there were no lights in them. Also, there was no sanitizer in the Johns themselves, only at a manned table looking for a tip. The only beer available was Bud and Bud Light. This is egregiously bad in a beer town like Tampa. Located just down the street from The Tampa Beer Company and also being the home of breweries like Cigar City, how can they not serve local beer. The liquor selections weren't much better. Then, there was the concert itself. Midnight Eternal actually had the best sound. That is just sad that the opening band sounded the best. During Armored Saint, the vocals went out once, but they remedied the problem. For Queensrÿche, the vocals disappeared after the first song. There were only 2 songs where the vocals were audible. That was during Silent Lucidity and Queen of the Ryche. Basically, any time the full band was playing, the vocals were not audible. The only good thing I can say is that there is plenty of parking in this area and it was fairly cheap at $6. Also, I only paid $9 for the show through Groupon. Unfortunately, it wasn't worth the time to get to Tampa for this show.
