"The Goose's Acre" was a small triangular green park at the junction of the northern approach roads to the Main Street of Midleton, County Cork. Landscaped with a variety of flowerbeds, shrubs and trees, the "acre" formed an attractive amenity feature that was much admired by visitors to the town. Here also was located the town's horse-trough and weighbridge, both necessities in times past. For over a century it was a landmark of which the townspeople were very proud. It was an important focal location for local ceremonies. In the centre of the plot stood a flagpole where on special occasions the National Flag was flown. Once a year, from 1920 to 1978 this special little area became hallowed ground, it being the location for the Benediction Service during the annual Corpus Christi Possession

I was not familiar with all the restaurants along the Woodlands Waterway. But last weekend on an early Valentine’s Day date with my husband. We came across The Gooses Acre. Enjoyable music coming from the outside patio area. Staff and service was friendly and prompt. Had the sampler platter very pleased. And the wait staff went way beyond on their service and making it a personal experience. Prices were very reasonable and atmosphere felt like a Pub.

Excellent food by The Woodlands Riverwalk. Open terrace where dogs are welcome. On Sundays kids menu is for free. The gently staff provided our dog with water and treats. We enjoyed the marinated tuna poke and the cheese and fruit platter and both were delicious. An excellent discovery and a place to come often. Excellent food but, overall, extremely friendly staff

We had the best service and best food at this restaurant! We sat inside and had so much to look at while sitting in our booth. Look at my photos because the food was excellent! The peach Bellini was so refreshing and was the perfect temperature! The customer service in this restaurant cannot be improved because they were really on top of everything!
