Whether you're already a fan of contemporary art or aren't sure, this is a great museum to visit. Admission is free (when I was there, at least). Contemporary art can be difficult -- especially if you compare it to, say, Impressionist paintings from 100+ years ago. Most art here was both thought-provoking and fun. A rotating sculpture covered with bananas? Sure. A two-story-high mural full of symbolism and whimsy, created by an artist from Guadeloupe who came to Albuquerque to paint it? Yes.The museum is in the middle of an area along Route 66 that's sprouting cafes and other attractions. I was there on a Friday afternoon; parking was pretty easy.
