Escape into nature right next to the City. Fairview Park is more than 200 acres, most of it wild. Some of it is manicured and there are walking paths and a small lake area. It is all just beautiful.Picnics there are great and if you want to fly a kite you can. It is great for families. They do events now and again, I have not been to one so I have no opinion. I just love the park.It is clean and well maintained. There are birds everywhere and little ground animals to keep you entertained. Bathrooms are nearby. In the heat of summer, take some water with you, although the chance of you getting lost are slim. It is only open until 5 pm so get there early and have a great walk. I have never seen a dog there so I don't know if they are allowed. We have been twice and will be back when we are in town.

The Fairview Park is located in Costa Mesa in Southern California and is a must see location. It is really unique as it is nestled between many housing developments and really gives you the chance to rest and relax in the full glory of “Mother Nature”. It contains a large amount of natural habitat! It is crisscrossed with many walking and Bike Trails. What I really like are the views from the highest point. On any clear day you have a great view of the famous Saddle Back Mountain and I was in the park Saddle back had a large amount of snow on its’ slopes! Finally, there is a large car park so I never found it difficult to find a parking space.

This is a nice big park with few facilities. Think of it as undeveloped. A good place to take your drones.

The open space area has been designated a park, but one would not think of the the work park when viewing this open space area.

I have ridden the train at Fairview Park a total of 4 times now, but the best ride was by far the most recent one in which Orange County photographer Matt Fitt led myself and 3 other photographers out into the fields to snap the beauty of the park. Engineer Hank Castingnetti gave us the private ride on the Mackerel Flats and Goat Hill Junction Railroad train. He knew just where to find the most abundant of flowering plants. The fields were alive with flowering mustard plants, blue lupines and a variety of other striking wildflowers. Fitt would signal our engineer when he spied a location that would maximize our ability to obtain good photographic images. The regular schedule for train rides do not include a professional photographer like Matt Fitt, but they are still very fun and are offered at no charge, but do consider leaving a donation as they help keep the trains operating. On the third weekend of every month from 10 am to 3:30 pm, Engineer Hank Castingnetti, and his fellow Orange County Model Engineers give the public rides. Trains on public ride days are made up of 4 to 6 bench cars that seat 5 to 6 adults and children per car. If you love nature, you will enjoy a visit to Fairview Park.
