tripadvisorSoftball Families- If you camp and play softball in Topeka at Bettis or Lake Shawnee, you can't go wrong with staying here! Great location, quick access to field (less than 10 minutes) and a wonderful campsite. We stayed in site 35 and it's right by the gate and the bathhouse. Bathhouse was always super clean. Quiet and peaceful for anyone! There are two sections- one area that has gravel pads and the other with concrete pads.
MoreThe campground is large and spaces accommodate large vehicles. Disappointing was not being told when power went out, and for how long. 1 Washing machine and 1 dryer were broken in the front building.A park employee walked through our site while we were outside to retrieve a tag with no greeting or explanation. Maintenance staff is very nice. Restaurant called thunderbird's up by croco Rd, and the shack are very good
MoreStayed at the campground on the lake and it’s beautiful, quiet, and the lake is stunning. There’s a beautiful golf course, walking/riding path also.
MorePerfect spot for winter camping. What a great location. In the winter the RV camping spots are in the middle of the TARC drive through Christmas light show. It was wonderful and not noisy. I enjoyed walking the lights in the evening. It might be a little busier on the weekend, but my Wednesday night stay was excellent. And the price is right!!! Power only in the winter, no restroom or shower but I saw that on the website and was prepared.
MoreThis is a large (120+/- sites) municipal campground in proximity to a large lake. The short not quite level back-in sites are gravel off asphalt access roads. The hookups (water & electric) are between you and your neighbor - they functioned properly. There is a dump station on the way out. Rumor has it that this fall they will embark on a remodel and expansion of the park - making the back-in sites pull through, and adding sewer hookups. It is likely to take several years to make the transition.
