When my wife suggested we stop, I was skeptical. My mistake. We were all amazed at the site. It is such a beautiful, unique and peaceful place. I would highly recommend stopping.

Beautiful lake and scenery all around! Since it’s a State park, each car paid $3 to enter, and it was well worth it. You could spend the day there, but we walked around d and took some great pictures. There’s camping, at least one playground, boating, fishing, hiking, and grilling.

We hiked all the way around the lake which is about 5 miles. Most of it is a pretty easy hike but the hike over the mountain area is definitely a challenge but not impossible. You need to be in shape to do it but it is rewarding! Very beautiful and scenic. Well marked trails (just follow the white dots). We would recommend this trail but not the mountain part if you are not prepared. Bring plenty of water and snacks.

We stopped here and walked around the lake a bit, then had a picnic lunch, while waiting to check in at an Airbnb. They have clean restrooms, a playground for the kids, camping sites, and kayak rentals. It looked as though it would be a busy place in the spring and summer months with plenty to do for the family.

Watson Lake is a must do on your trip to Prescott. It offers stunning views of the lake and rocky landscape. We highly recommend viewing it via kayak as well as hiking around the lake. Just beware that is you hike the Watson Lake hike you only see the lake at the beginning and end of the hike. The majority of the hike is navigating over boulders.
