tripadvisorThis park is a hidden treasure. It's a city operated park next to Syracuse University and right behind where I lived when I went to Syracuse University in the 80's. This month I was in Syracuse and had the opportunity to take a walk through the park. Lots of brick pathways -- some of which have the grass law grown over. I spent over an hour walking through the many facets of it -- from the standpipe - the highest point in the city, where students were hill running - to the outdoor amphitheatre which would be a great place for summer performances. I walked past the swimming pool which was empty by now, the football field and tennis courts, and the neighborhoods that border the park entrances. The rose garden still had a few roses in bloom (in summer, it's spectacular). It was a quiet Saturday morning so I don't know how much activity it regularly gets, but structurally, it's a gem which should be taken advantage of.
MoreNice family playgrounds, public pool, outdoor ampitheatre, historic rose garden, football field all right next to Syracuse University...
MoreThis park has so many things within it. A great pool (although the bathrooms could be cleaned more regularly) a rose garden even Shakespeare in the park during the summer! We went here for the great, and free, pool and while the family was there i enjoyed a walk with the dog along the paths and pines. A great way to pass a hot summer's couple of hours.
MoreI was there as part of a workout for the November Project Winter Summit. With a little imagination, this place is fantastic to workout in: it has paved hills, grassy bills, and in winter snow covered hills. Plenty of room for a large group to enjoy, and roadways to get people in and out of the park.
MoreI grew up one block from Thornden Park. I felt it was my personal backyard! Came to town on business and was quite busy, but as always, this was the perfect spot to take a break.
