Bromo Seltzer Tower Historical Monument ·$

Dating back to 1911, the Emerson Bromo Seltzer tower is credited to Captain Isaac Emerson. A 15 storey structure, it was stylistically inspired by Florence's Palazzo Vecchio tower and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Until 1936, a 51-foot replica of the famed blue bottle revolved on top of the building, illuminated by 596 lights. Today, a blue glow emanates from the tower's cupola and the structure's four clock faces are illuminated at all times, allowing passersby to see the Bromo Seltzer letters that mark the time. The tower is also houses to an arts facility, showcasing exhibitions by resident as well as other artists.

An old tall tower left over from a previous era. It has a clock up on top and is a bit of a landmark, certainly above many of the building immediately around it. For the old pharmaceutical company and you will find it in the downtown area.

It was a very nice experience to see the way the clock works, all the components that make it work and the history. You are at walking distance from alot of other museums.

Really gorgeous clock tower that I was able to view out my hotel window. Sadly, it only has tour hours on Saturday, so I wasn't able to go inside or go into the museum to get a tour of the clock tower itself.

None of the artist studios were open, but we had a wonderful time visiting the clock tower (be sure to talk to Lucas, who can answer all your questions) and reviewing the historical artifacts, very well presented with a lot of fascinating details.

Interesting to see — but not a “must see.” Stop by for a visit if it’s open & you have time — but don’t go out of your way. We were not there during a time for a tour, so we just walked through it ourselves (and since no tour, we did not see the clock tour). We started on the 15th floor where there are various displays of old bottles & of the Emerson Hotel (built by the man who invented Bromo Seltzer). We then walked down & peeked in the various artists’ studios — there were some on floors 14 to 7...but most of the studios on the lower floors were empty.Views from the tower are not spectacular. If you want views, visit the observation floor at the Baltimore World Trade Center.
