tripadvisorThe 18th and Vine District of Kansas City is historically an African American neighborhood and is known as the jazz district of the city. The area seemed a bit run down and nowhere as lively as I suspect it was when Wilbert Harrison sang about Standing on the corner at 12th Street and Vine in the song, Kansas City. However, this is where you will find the excellent Negro Leagues Baseball Museum and the adjacent American Jazz Museum. Both are worth visiting and only cost $10 each. Attached to the Jazz Museum is The Blue Room where you can watch live jazz performances at night. This is also the neighborhood to find the famous Arthur Bryant's BBQ. Although you can find better BBQ in the city, this is one of the original BBQ joints in town dating back to the 1920s and worth it just for the experience.
More18th & Vine, a lot of history in this area. There are a few store fronts that are empty and recovering from Covid shutdowns can take some time. There are many attractions to check out here. There is plenty of places to park so get out and stroll around and discover 18th & vine. Take in the history.
MoreCRAIG HOCKENBERRY (HOCKENBERRY-OHIO) what a great stop on my trip to Kansas. 18th & vine was so cool. I had the chance to walk around for about an hour and check out the walk of fame and the different Jazz venues. I also ate at the Legendary Arhtur Bryant BBQ. CRAIG HOCKENBERRY (HOCKENBERRY-OHIO)
MoreTotally worth going to listen to good music and ha e a great time with friends. There is even some opportunity for dancing, if you enjoy doing so.
MoreI was not too crazy about this area. All of the building were very old and would certainly not want to be in that area at ngiht time
