All of Minneapolis's parks seem connected to each other and many were quite crowded, but Boom Island Park is separate from them by a bit North of town and few people were there when I visited. It offers a walk along the River, views of a lighthouse on a river island, some public art and a pedestrian bridge to Nicollet Island. It's not exciting, but it's placid and pleasant.

Great park to enjoy a stroll along the Mississippi. Lots of parking and the was groomed well. We enjoyed it during the February Blizzard...cannot wait to return in Summer.

This park is on the opposite side of the river from downtown Minneapolis. If coming from there, it’s best accessed via bicycle or car. Walking there would be a bit of a hike but worth incorporating into a run from the city. It’s a quiet park. Lots of groups were using the pavilions for different functions when I was there , but it’s a big place so plenty of room for everyone. It offers fantastic views of the city skyline and the river. There are lots of trails in the park for cyclists and runners. As I understand it, parking isn’t free so if you leave your car there to go on a bike ride, you could get a ticket. Some people in our group moved their cars to a street nearby for this reason. Worth a visit if seeking a quiet relaxing place near the city

This park was very clean and well kept. It was very popular with runners and cyclists. There is a boat launch too for kayaks and small boats. Be sure to see the lighthouse. Its not big but its pretty. Lots of picture taking spots. Take your camera.
