tripadvisorAs a past President of the Grinter Place Friends I would encourage you to take the time to visit the Grinter House and enjoy the history of how it helped shape early Kansas History.
MoreMy friend and I took our lunch break one afternoon to explore this historic home. We were given a tour that detailed the history of not only the home but the area rich in KC history. Definitely recommend this for any KC history lover.
MoreExceptional tour guide described the history of the house that was built by Moses and Annie Grinter in the mid 1800's. Well worth the stop to learn about the opening of the west as wagons and military crossed over the Kaw River on Grinter's ferry. The house has period furniture to demonstrate how the Gritner family might have lived in the home, until selling it in the 1900's.
MoreIf you happen to be in the Kansas City area near 435 loop and love history, go see this place. There is quite a bit of history to this place and it's easy access. It will not take a great deal of time, so you may want to plan to see other points of interest as well.
MoreGrinter House has a great history. It sets on the Kaw River. It is just enjoyable to walk thru the house & hear about the Grinter family. BUT, in the summer there is Apple Fest. They decorate for Christmas, etc. You walk out in the surrounding filed & you can 'feel the experience'. It truly is a wonderful place to take kids, so they can 'see' history.
