With blue LED lights built along pathways and at the bases of trees creating an eerie and pleasant glow at night, this uniquely designed open space is not your everyday public park. At the center of Gold Medal is an observation mound surrounded by a seating area that allows visitors to sit and take in views of the Mississippi River from under the shade of beautiful Amur trees. Benches also line the perimeter of the park, creating the perfect place to stop and relax or eat some lunch in the company of walkers and readers.

tripadvisorI came across 'Gold Medal Park' when I parked my car on the roadway next to it to walk down to the Stone Arch Bridge and Mill Ruins Park. It is a pleasant enough park with plenty of well maintained grass, a large red metal sculpture and a mound with a winding pathway, all set amongst some nice trees. It is right next to the old Gold Medal Flour Mill which is where the Park gets its name. A good place for a picnic if you are passing but not a park I would drive out especially to visit.
MoreThis park abutting the Mississippi is lovely but not all that special. A large mound with a winding walking around it to the top make up the centerpiece of the park. There are a few sculptures but mostly, this is just a lovely green space.
MoreWe stopped here after going to the Mill City Market. There was a well-attended yoga class being held on the grass. Others were engaged in various activities like picnicking, walking, playing frisbee, etc. The park is near the memorial for those who lost their lives in the I35 bridge collapse. The park overlooks the Mississippi River.
MoreFun little hill to clime. The park is pretty from the Guthrie. Very nice park in the city. Great location by the Guthrie and the 35W bridge memorial
MoreI write reviews specifically for dates and to encourage people to spend more time having a life filled with adventure. This date is a perfect kid date, picnic destination, journal spot, writers group, and other daydreamer styled activity. This is a hidden in plain sight section of the city that often gets missed. It is the perfect spot to toss out a blanket, unpack a picnic, watch the sky, and hang out and do nothing. It is a favorite cloud watching spot and I find that there is enough interesting sky that you can just gaze, dream, nap, or chat with a loved one. Bikes welcome.
