This area is closed due to lack of maintenance snd overgrowth. In the small area for parking there is a sign from Oct of last year saying it is overgrown and closed till maintained and that was a year ago

We saw many different kinds of birds birds and several bald eagles. Nice picnic areas on the river, but why can't people pick up after themselves.

Eagle Bluffs Wildlife Area is located just 10 miles from Columbia Missouri and is located adjacent to the Missouri River. Eagle Bluffs Wildlife Area is a unique weland complex that can be seasonally flooded using polished sewage wastewater from the City of Columbia or water pumped from the adjacent river. The area is popular for hiking, biking, bird-watching, or hunting during presribed seasons. Hunting is allowed to holders of a lottery-system application in addition to some allotted positions for stand-by hunters if all of the reserved positions are not filled. Two additional attractions are a bluff-top observation point that is accessible by a gravel back road and a nearby landmark Big Oak Tree that is rumored to be over 300 years old. This spot is an excellent place to visit during anytime of the year but is especially popular during the fall and spring waterfowl and shorebird migration seasons. A hat, raingear, insect repellent, and sunscreen should be used to make your visit a truly unforgettable experience.

Best place for seeing Eagles in flight, fishing, and nesting. Bring your camera or binoculars for better viewing and capturing nature shots. Depending on the season a wide variety of water fowl and birds are visible from the road or paths along pools and the river. Great place to spend a few hours just a short way from Columbia close to the MKT trail.

Lovely little walk. I parked at the mini lot on South Warren School Rd and went to the overlook from there. It's an easy, not strenuous at all hike from that starting point. Half of the hike was along what seems to be utilities access tracks. There's very few signs that explicitly say trail. I followed red/orange flag signs (along with the trail signs, of course) and they didn't steer me wrong.
