Really interesting place and the tour with interaction with the artists was great. The end products are not inexpensive but they are hand crafted.

I visited during the Sutton Chain Of Lights. I live less than 2 miles away and had never visited! There was a mini-tour in progress and one of the employees motioned me to join in! They gave a tour of how the ornaments and figurines are created and hand painted. It was very impressive to see the artistic expertise in action! I bought 2 ornaments after learning how special they are. Another employee educated me about a wine they carried for the Holiday and I bought 2 bottles as Christmas presents for friends I thought would appreciate the numbered bottles. Don’t be intimidated by the prices of the figurines! Go in, learn and experience true local art! These people are true artisans who are excited to share their process and history with you. They also have a special event every year where Charles Dicken’s Grandson (Great Grandson?) does a reading in their theater.

I have been a couple of times and I always buy too much but my tree looks so nice when I decorate it with the ornaments. Watching the artist hand paint the items is amazing

This place is magical. When you step inside the store threw are all kinds of chalk ware Santa’s and other kfigurines. They have server ware pottery too. The problem in here is that you want to buy everything!

On our way (on 146) to Woonsocket yesterday, we decided to leave the highway, and investigate some of the beautiful New England backroads. Traveling through the town of Sutton, we chanced upon this studio/shop, and stopped to have a look. From the outside, it just looks like a storefront, but inside, it's a very large space, comprised of an art studio, a Museum, and a retail store. The Museum holds the many, many antique chocolate molds (also, some ice cream molds) to make the figures at Vaillancourt. Decades ago, these molds made chocolate Santas, snowmen, bunnies, etc. Now, they make chalkware figurines. One can tour the studio and see the process from beginning to end. Artists are there, carefully painting and detailing the outside of the molded chalkware. Really fascinating to see. The finished products are beautiful. We thought this would be a very short stop, but it proved to be otherwise. If you are in the area, it is a must visit.
