For my first show at the Abilene, my wife and I went to see Fred Eaglesmith & Tif Ginn.The Abilene makes every show a house concert. It is a great venue to see a band/artist.

Abilene is a fairly small place with great music most nights. Bands are playing Americana, Blues, Rockabilly, etc. Some have said it can be too loud - Yep, exactly like it ought to be for this music. It isn't Celine Dion, and it isn't top-40 anything. It's The Blasters playing their song, American Music. The place was named after a Dave Alvin song and they take their motto from Dwight Yoakum - This old honky-tonk sure does feel like home. Bands get a lot of energy from the crowd in this place. Leave your cellphone texts & videos at the door. Come to have a beer, pay attention to who's on stage, and hear what music is supposed to be.

went to meet friends after work, relax and chat. there was a live band (all Men EGO!!!) playing, the music was so, so loud we could not talk, hear, and the wonderful bar tender Amanda could not hear our orders. The owner was there and I could not believe he did not tell these guys to turn it down, it was ridiculous!

not for young people ,or old people either, tripped on the stairs from the bathroom, it was VERY loud and too crowded
