Local charity (part of a national network of autonomous charities) whose purpose is "Getting People Jobs". Accept donations of clean, reusable clothing and other household items sort, and sell in brick and mortar stores and on the internet, offer secure document destruction (AAA certified secure operation -shredding paper and plastics for individuals, businesses and government agencies for a fee), free recycling of computers, TVs and electronics. Local donations and purchases support training and jobs for over 700 San Diegans with developmental disabilities and other barriers to employment, and free employment services for thousands more each year. We have recently launched a two month paid training program for youths transitioning from foster care and refugees who need work experience . Goodwill Industries of San Diego County does NOT do traditional fundraising, hold events, or ask the public for cash, although unrestricted donations are gratefully accepted. .
