tripadvisorLet me start off by saying this location has been my go-to place to stay the last 4 years in Louisville. I am a long time Bonvoy member and have stayed 100+ nights the last 2 years in various Marriott properties. My recent trip to the Springhill Suites was the worst experience I have ever had at any Marriott location in my life. The management staff here is contriving, deceitful, and dishonest. I prepaid for my stay and after I checked out, several unauthorized fees & charges were charged to my card. When I brought my concerns to the assistant manager, Dakota Patterson, she rudely dismissed my concerns and called me a liar. I have never been treated do disrespectfully by any hotel staff member in my life. She is extremely flippant, condescending, and continually talked over me when I tried to explain the situation to her. She then brought racial undertones to the conversation and raised her voice at my mother and I, even when I was calm and trying to express my concerns over unauthorized fees being charged to my account. We were truly appalled at the treatment we received. I also requested to speak with senior manager, Trinity Harris, about the way her staff was talking to their guests and their contriving behavior. It has now been a week later, and she has not returned a single message or phone call. Obviously, she cannot be bothered with rectifying the egregious wrongs of her assistant managers. They have now lost a customer for life because of how arrogant and hateful Dakota treated my family and I. Save yourself the headache and stay at any of the other numerous Marriott properties in downtown Louisville. Avoid this hotel if you don’t want surprise charges, fees, and wish to be treated with respect & dignity. I would rate this hotel a 0 if I could.
MoreFirst, the property was clean and quiet. The extra seating in the room was great. The location was an easy walk to everything downtown. The staff was friendly and smiled. Now the not so good. Check in and out was looooooong. Even after reserving online. Either the worker didn’t know the system or the system is garbage. She had absolutely no help either. Line was 6 guests deep. No literature was given on how to do anything. No WiFi password was provided. The mattress was done. You could feel every spring in the darn thing. And being that you are there to sleep, it was 8 hours of ouch. The breakfast was horrible. Powdered eggs from the taste of them and orange juice you could see through. The seating area in the dinning room was disgustingly dirty. The cloth chairs were dirty and stained. The vinyl chairs were rotted and torn. No one was cleaning tables. So, price, location and room cleanliness, good. Everything else… someone needs to address, well… everything.
MoreTerrible location. Parking is shady. Staff Meredith is rude. Lots of better hotels in the area with better prices. Don’t stay here. I always love Marriott properties- this one doesn’t fit the standard.
MoreVery conveniently located and within easy walking distance of downtown attractions. Very clean. Breakfast had nice selections - always 3 hot items each day and comfortable dining area. Staff are pleasant. My only concern as to whether I would return or not is the sleeping accommodations: When I made the booking, I asked for two beds and the accompanying picture clearly showed two beds (which I presume to have been queens, though they could have been doubles). What I got was one king bed and a sleeper sofa ... and that sleeper sofa was not at all comfortable. If you go, make absolutely sure you understand exactly what you'll be getting. Also, note that there's a fairly steep parking fee: $25/day + tax. The parking garage has nice-sized spaces, which is a plus.So .. for the lack of transparency (re: bed situation, parking fee) I'm withholding a star. I'd consider staying here again because I'm fairly certain I could get what I needed in the sleep department. Not sure about the parking, although I suspect that charging a parking fee is typical of Louisville hotels.
MoreIt started with a fabulous greeting from Sunny at the front desk! We bought the derby package which included a generous welcome gift. Rooms and main areas were clean. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Good location, we were able to walk to many places we wanted to go. I don’t know names, but many more staff members were friendly and helpful as well. I would definitely stay there again.
