This was extremely underwhelming. Not worth the trip from downtown. Skip it, go do the river walk around the stone arch bridge.

I’ll admit I am writing this review after reading someone’s review that they couldn’t find Minnehaha Falls in the park. I really find that hard to believe as the falls are street level just as you enter the park at the northwest corner and just south of the main parking lot. They can be viewed directly across from Sea Salt.I grew up near here and have been visiting the park for over 60 years. There is fr no handicapped parking available right next to the pavilion which is right across the street from where the creek is about to go over the falls. Otherwise, there are pay lots. After viewing the falls from the top, make your way down the stairs where you can view them from the bottom on a stone footbridge. Head east from there and follow the creek to the Mississippi River. While the trail is rustic, it is pretty manageable for most people. If you have children, especially in the summer, head over to Wabun Picnic Area. It is at the northeast corner of the park at the intersection of Minnehaha Parkway and 46th Ave. There is a wonderful inclusive playground as well as a zero-entry wading pool with a lovely fountain. There are lots of mature trees there, including Burr Oaks. Parking at Wabun is free. You can continue to head east and then north on to West River Parkway where you will travel on top of the beautiful Mississippi River Gorge. If you head west on Minnehaha Parkway instead it will follow the creek upstream and take you past Lake Hiawatha, Lake Nokomis and Minneapolis’ beautiful Chain of Lakes.

This is a must see w family and kiddos. A free experience to definitely see on a beautiful spring or summer day!

Terrible experience that I would never recommend. My experience was so embarrassing, I'm not going to ever even tell people I went there. We didn't see any falls at all, and we searched for well over an hour. Terrible lack of signage, paths closed off, and bridges closed. I'm truly sorry I ever tried to go here.Oh and when we asked a local where it was, he gave the worst, most vague advice ever, something so offhandedly equivalent to it's on the website.

We were here on a warm day in early spring, so we had a beautiful weather, the waterfall was flowing strong, and there was still a lot of ice from winter which was actually pretty cool. A lot of people hiked down and around the waterfall itself. There is a parking lot right by the waterfall.
