I came on a day the house was not open, so no tour. The site offers free parking and plenty of signs to get a gist of what happened here. Worth a visit for the Civil War buff as this small battle was a precursor.

I visited on a dreary Sunday and seems as if the house was locked. I would have liked to have seen the information inside. The park around the corner with the trail ruts was interesting. Take a few minutes and take it in.

I’ve been here before and really enjoyed it, but it does not appear to be maintained much at this time. Trails are overgrown and the info on the sign that was supposed to bring a self guided audio tour did not work. It’s a shame because it’s quite an important place.

Geocaching brought us here - and it didn’t disappoint. Interesting piece of Kansas history - easy, short trails guide you through the battlefield. Worth a visit!

My sister and I went to the early morning tour that started at 5:00 AM this year so we could understand what it was like the day of the battle. The battle started at 5 AM. Our tour guide was fantastic! He was very informative and we learned a great deal about John Brown and everything leading up to the battle. This is a great place to visit.
