tripadvisorI stayed in the Marion Inn for four and a half months, during my final semester of grad school. It was an excellent experience. TV, mini fridge, and microwave in my room (as well as a table, chairs, futon, and tons of closet/shelf/cabinet space); dependable wireless Internet access; bathrooms on every floor that were regularly cleaned; communal kitchen on the first floor (ditto); laundry facilities in the basement; bedding and towels provided; and a kind and caring landlord who readily answered texts or e-mails and left out trays of fruit or sweets in the lobby for his guests. My only two complaints are that it got extremely cold in the winter (of course the heat was on, but it didn't seem to work terribly well), and the electrical outlets in my room were a bit wonky (my computer sometimes slowed down when I plugged it in, though it was fine when unplugged, and fine 100% of the time after I moved). These were minor problems for me, though, and I never mentioned them to the landlord--I'm sure he would have tried to help if I had! Finally, the neighborhood is fantastic: quiet, safe, and right in the heart of downtown Brookline/Coolidge Corner. Particular highlights include Brookline Booksmith (new and secondhand books, a gift shop, and frequent book signings/readings/events), Otto Pizza, J.P. Licks (ice cream and frozen yogurt), Zaftig's (delicious Jewish restaurant), and the Coolidge Corner Theatre. You're also just a few minutes' walk from two grocery stories, Trader Joe's and Stop 'n' Shop, and the houses and gardens in this area are just beautiful. Highly recommended overall.
MoreI spent six months living at the Marion Inn and was able to experience the late summer, fall and part of winter. The location is perfect for those who need to get around without a car (there is a train station virtually at the door; bus stops within 5-10 minutes; supermarkets, pharmacies, banks, post office, varied restaurants, cinema, etc within 10 minutes or less). I stayed in a room with a desk for work, cable, private bathroom and mini kitchen (sink, microwave and mini fridge) which met my needs very well. In my opinion, the air conditioning was removed a little too early from the room, I felt warm a few days before actually starting the winter. And the internet works ok, but not great. The Inn also had kitchen and laundry facilities for common use (guests cleaned after use, but I think the person in charge of cleaning could do a little heavier cleaning in those areas from time to time). Finally, the stay was very comfortable and I was very welcomed by the owner of the place, who was always accessible by email or text messages and did his best to give me access to anything I needed (from extra blankets to extra heater etc) and always left small gifts for the guests (fruit, cookies, peanuts), very cute. I would definitely recommend this place and the day I return to Boston I will definitely want to stay here again.
MoreI stayed here for the last 2 months in Brookline. Very near to subway C-Line and also near to my daughter's school. The room is quite. With flexible time choice. Not need to worry about the extension and break of lease which happens for the rent of apartment at Brookline area.
MoreStayed at this inn recently for 10 days. Had a specious, clean and quiet room with free WiFi and the TV had all the channels. The location is central and safe. The owner/operator was cordial and very accessible. I will stay at this inn again.
MoreI stayed here for a month when I moved to Boston. This is pretty much perfect for budget conscious people traveling for work. It's pretty much like a hotel with a more home-like and peaceful atmosphere. The people running this place were friendly, efficient and flexible. I can truly recommend Marion Inn for anyone who doesn't like to stay in hotels but still wants to have a care-free place to stay in.
