What a cute area, with interesting shops, historic buildings, and great spots to eat. Take the time to talk to the artisans!

Founded by German settlers in the 1850’s, Gruene still retains it’s historic charm and beautiful Victorian and rustic architecture, antiques, unique shops, a packed full of fun things General Store, a variety of restaurants, and live music at the famous Gruene Hall dance hall. Lots of festive Christmas decorations for your holiday trip!Been coming here for many years and so thankful it’s still special.

Gruene is a small historic district near New Braunfels, probably best known for Gruene Dance Hall, the oldest dance hall in Texas. The dance hall continues to offer regular live music. This is clearly a tourist destination and much lauded by Tourism groups in Texas, but feels authentic and reel. There are shops and eateries, including one in the old cotton gin overlooking the river. There are crafts and curios a plenty. Lots of Spanish moss and old brick work.Large free parking lot and on street parking. Plenty of holiday accommodation in the area.Much publicised tourist district that does not disappoint.

This area is near New Braunfels and is like stepping back in time. The historical downtown and shops is so fun to wander in. The Gruene Dance Hall is really cool and we enjoyed eating lunch at the Gristmill which is in a historical cotton gin. Give yourself about 2 hours to see this area and eat at the restaurant.
