tripadvisorLove going to the pavilion. Use to be called the Ntelos pavilion, but now its just the Portsmouth pavilion. It is a smaller venue, but the acoustics are great and the artists are always very talented. I would definitely go back here and we regularly go there. There are a lot of food places and bars with in walking distance or you can just stroll along the water's edge waiting for the show to start.
MoreThis venue is no longer called the n Telos.Wireless Pavilion, it's just the Portsmouth Pavilion. The seating area used to be covered by heavy draped canvas. Earlier this year, it was discovered that rain water had seeped into the hollow metal poles holding the covering. Consequently, the covers had to come down for safety reasons - the poles were rusting and weakening. I don't know what the time frame for fixing is. We saw a Beatles group playing many of the top favorites. It was a warm, humid Friday evening/. They progressed through the Beatles timeline with the songs. We had to leave shortly before the show was over - thunder and lightning were getting closer and without the covering - well you know.
MoreI've been to quite a few really good concerts at this venue, not near as big as Va. Beach, less crowds to deal with is a plus in my book !
MoreWas recently at Chris Stapleton show which was our first time at this venue. very nice venue and well maintained and staffed. Overall a pleasant outdoor concert spot. Did not know that the venue would run out of lawn chairs for rent? we got there about 1/2 hour before show started and no more lawn chairs for rent. Maybe it references this on the site I did not check. but seems you have to arrive very early to (a) get a GA seat on the lawn and (b) obtain rental chairs. and (c) get alcohol. 2nd item - also before start of the show concessions ran out of white wine...how do you run out of white wine and some of the red. before the show even starts especially if you can only get 2 glasses per person. Either alot of people were there super early and kept getting more wine or just under stocked the concession bar. The lines also seem to move exceedingly slow by typical concession standards so beware that you will wait considerably if you must drink and eat. Of course the staff are all very pleasant and nice -this just constructive criticism and caveats for future. In short i would go back for a concert in the future I will just better plan and bring my own lawn chair. and be sure i am eaten and drunken pre show. uber: seems to be difficult to get an uber (and maybe cab) to this venue. but that my be a lack of sufficient # of uber/lyft drivers in the evening hours in the norfolk/portsmouth area nothing to do with the venue. but just another caveat for future concert goers. and of course you can walk to downtown portsmouth if your hotel is there its about .5-.6 miles
MoreWe've enjoyed concerts at this medium- size and very comfortable venue for years, most recent for Aussie Pink Floyd. One unique experience was the pre-concert yoga class when Michael Franti came a couple years ago. All the seats were cleared, and several hundred of us enjoyed yoga with Seane Corn, an internationally-known yogi, while Michael Franti played acoustic. Fun!
