Cleveland Playhouse produces many of its plays in the Allen. It’s a perfectly sized space with comfortable seating for all. We love the balcony and usually have our season tickets for the front row. But you really can’t go wrong with any of the seats. Check out the before and after show programs that they have for many of the shows. Drink and snacks are available in the area just outside the theatre.

Cleveland Playhouse productions are often staged in the Allen Theatre. This space was made significantly smaller when the theatre was reconfigured a number of years ago and is a stellar performance space, in my opinion. I love sitting in the front row of the balcony as you have a superb view of the entire stage.

Visiting from New York in September, found a great matinee before attending a night game at Progressive Field. The show was wonderful: Into the Breeches about a group of women who take over the production of a Shakespear play in the absence of the men who are all at war. It was hugely entertaining and funny from start to beginning. About the theater itself, it is a cozy 1930's theater which has been refurbished and restored and has the latest sound and lighting technology. Can't say enough. Learned that Cleveland has the largest theater district in the country outside of NYC.

This was one of the old movie palaces on Euclid Avel, and now has been rescued as a performing arts theater. Thank heavens for that! It's still lovely, although less of a palace.

This is a small and intimate theater; do not miss a chance to see a play here. The performances are stellar but they feel like the performers are there for you only.
