tripadvisorIt was a long drive out our way, but it was well worth the drive! We spent a whole afternoon visiting this really full museum.. there was so much to see downstairs that we did not have the time to visit all floors! The artistist residents are really diverse and make so many different kinds of art, that it is almost impossible to see every detail inside! But it makes it that more fun, because if you visit with more people, you are talking about it for a while after visiting! And it is constantly changing, so next time, we will definitely come again!
MoreWalked around and out... Don't exactly understand the concept other than what do you do with so much collected memorabilia... Bits and part of things that have seen better days. The book collection was [for me] the best part, especially since you're encouraged to interact with everything.See it once, fine. But next time, I'll spend my $5 on a coffee or juice
MoreI would recommend taking the tour so you can hear the history of the location, the explanation of the pieces and to tour the 2nd and 3rd floors. I had been in previously and was a bit overwhelmed by the stimuli on the first floor. However when you take the tour it’s a rich and thoughtful experience. Walk through the creative minds of some of the residents who have put their mark on the museum. The pieces upstairs are political in nature with a lot of social commentary. Some art in this world is just for beauty and others is to invoke thought and emotion. It goes very deep. Was more than pleased with our experience and want to share it with all those who I feel are open enough to take in the messages. Take the tour!!! Totally worth $5
MoreOne of the most unique museums I’ve ever been to. I’ve seen my share of hoarders on television and in my many different moves throughout my years... I wonder if I should keep this or that.. How do you take junk and turn it into art? How do you celebrate a hoarder in your family? Some creative people find a way. What I love about this museum is the artist in residency program. This is a must see in Greensboro. And it’s done tastefully, remarkably, and inspirational.
MoreMy daughter had been here before and was excited to share the experience with me...lots of cool and quirky bits of information.
