tripadvisorAn exceptional niche bookstore if you have any interest in cooking, food or restaurants. I could spend hours going through their selection of books about food, old menus and so much more. Exceptionally curated and the folks who work there are incredibly knowledgeable. Can’t wait to visit again someday!
MoreWhen I visited San Francisco the other week, I decided to make a trip to Omnivore Books (as we were going to be in the Mission District, an easy walk from Omnivore). Well, I stepped inside and was in my element! Cookbooks galore, both old and new. The staff or owner (not sure who I conversed with) was extremely helpful! I have a modest cookbook collection (~150 or so, as my house is small). This store is a most welcome stop for foodies and cooks. The store is small, a rather cozy place with books to the ceiling (and sorted by type). I found old gems and new additions. My boyfriend even found something! Given that I'm a bit of an ice cream aficianado, I wanted to add to my small collection of ice cream books. Here I had a plethora to choose from! This is the sort of place where one finds serendipitous discoveries. I wound up with about 5 titles and was overheard discussing suitcase logistics with the boyfriend. They offered to ship they books to my Indiana home for a modest fee. And those books arrived about a week after I visited the store. If you love food or cooking or both and you find yourself in San Francisco, you owe it to yourself to take a trip to Omnivore Books. You won't be sorry! FYI, the store is in what was once a butcher shop, so some of that infrastructure is still in place. Looks pretty cool!
MoreThis is a cooks treasure chest...filled with all sorts of wonderful & interesting cookbooks, from newest to older. Many signed copies for sale.Attended a book signing here & it was cozy & enjoyable. Will be back.
MoreThis is the most wonderful little bookstore I have ever been to. It is in an old butcher shop I think and you can tell by some of the decor that she has not taken down. With just cookbooks and food related books, this is a foodies and home cooks heaven. The owner is super helpful and nice, and the events she puts on are amazing! It is a little off the beaten path but worth heading here if you love to cook!
MoreMy sister gets all my cookbooks at Omnivore. This year I am on a sweet path. Three dessert books. I will be seriously fat soon! A terrific shop indeed.
