tripadvisorAdjacent to a motorcycle dealership that specializes in European bikes, is this museum/event space that has about 90 motorcycles. The Collection is immaculate and features many brands that no longer exist, almost all European.I spent about 30 minutes at this free museum. If you’re into motorcycles and passing through St. Louis, I think it’s a must stop.
MoreThe Moto Museum houses the private motorcycle collection of St. Louis architect Steve Smith who has collected and restored all the bikes on display. You'll see everything from a wooden motorcycle to bikes from the 20s and 30s, originating from around the world. Very eclectic collection that covers more than you could imagine.
MorePrivate collection of not only rare European motorcycles but also a great assortment of colorful advertising posters associated with motorcycles . Each bike has a placard briefly explaining the history of the manufacturer and the details or innovations that make that particular bike desirable. The owner supplements the factual aspects of the bike with his personal vignettes on his obviously special relationship with the other like-minded collectors from around the world who have been instrumental in facilitating the acquisitions that are so lovingly displayed. No doubt the collection will continue to grow as these contacts continue to be on the lookout for more rarities to add to the site. We came here because hubby rides European bikes, but non-riders can certainly appreciate the opportunity to view these survivors in person.
MoreWOW is the best word for it. If you have any interest at all in the development of European motorcycles this is a great place. Old Soviet, German and British bikes particularly. I enjoyed how the owner has collected for years and how he tracks down new bikes. Immaculate, organized show room with plenty of space for an event like your work training for 50+ people. Even a wedding rehearsal could be here. There is an attached, very good, restaurant , The Triumph Cafe, and a small, boutique hotel which is also attached. Everything is modern and shows good management and love of the sport. My husband raced in the 70's and he was impressed with the collection. Many countries and decades represented. Lunch was tempura asparagus with a great dipping sauce and a Chinese Chicken Salad. Both were excellent. We would go back for the food or for the museum next time we visit St Louis. It was FREE when we visited. Having an event there could have a charge but we didn't ask.
MoreStopped by to see the motorcycle collection, very happy to see the restored bikes and read the history. Nice spot, extensive collection. Well worth the trip.
