tripadvisorWarning: Promised a refund, then lied to my travel agent. Completely deceptive.I am writing this review to warn future guests about the deceptive customer service practices at the Andrew Pinckney Inn.After needing to cancel my stay, I spoke directly with the hotel front desk staff. They explicitly assured me that they would waive the standard cancellation penalty and honor a full refund. Relying entirely on this professional commitment, I contacted my travel agent to officially process the cancellation. However, when my travel agent called the hotel to pull the refund, the staff completely reversed their position. They denied the previous conversation ever happened and refused to authorize the waiver code needed to release my funds.Giving a guest a clear, verbal confirmation to get them off the phone, only to deny it to their booking agent later, is completely dishonest business behavior. I am currently waiting on General Manager Barry Hutto to audit their communication logs, hold his team accountable, and honor the original agreement.Until this property corrects its deceptive communication, I highly advise travelers to book elsewhere. A hotel that cannot stand by its own word cannot be trusted with your money.
MoreBarbara our server was phenomenal and extremely attentive!
MoreWhat a great stay at this gem of a property. Our Charleston vacation was great and the Andrew Pinckney helped to make it very memorable week.We booked a standard King room. Cozy and very clean. The bed was so comfortable, we had a great night's sleep every night. Housekeeping came daily and we always came back from being out to a refreshed room. Soundproofing must be pretty good, we never heard anything from our neighboring rooms. What sets the Andrew Pinckney apart was the little touches. This is not a mega resort, it's a boutique hotel that really seems to care about the experience of the guests. We met the friendliest staff at the afternoon wine and cheese hour. Afternoon treats (the cookies were very tasty) and lemonade/sweet tea in the lobby was a nice touch too. The included breakfast in the solarium was genuinely good with your standard cereals/pastries/yogurt and fruit as well as eggs/quiche and a breakfast meat. Great way to start the day for sure. Location can't be beat, you will be right in the historic Charleston area with everything within walking distance. We walked to dinner each night and the shopping on King St as well as the waterfront are just minutes away.Valet was convenient, we never waited more than a few minutes for our car so no issues there.Overall, this was a great value for a Charleston stay and we wouldn't hesitate to come back again. The Andrew Pinckney has a lot of character and we hope it stays that way! Highly recommend.
MoreWe just got back from our Charleston trip, amazing as always. This is the second time we’ve stayed at the Andrew Pinckney Inn. I will say the first time, our room was a lot better. It was on the first floor. This time we stayed on the third floor. Our shutters were broken, it didn’t have the historic feel of the first room. It did, however, have more character. As in characters that come in the middle of the night. I thought about not adding this, because it’s unbelievable. I don’t think I would believe it myself if someone told me this story. The first night we were there, it was around 2:30am, we felt something tapping on the bed, like pushing down on it several times. We weren’t sure what to think. The next night, I’m up at 2:36am to use the restroom. I’m going back to bed, and I feel terrified all of a sudden. I did not want to go back to my side of the bed at all, so I climbed back in from the bottom, telling myself I’m crazy the whole time. I settle back in the bed on my side, with an arm on top of the blanket. I’m trying to get myself settled down so I can go back to sleep. Suddenly, something starts tapping my arm, over and over again. I thought it was my husband, but when I looked over, he was asleep on the other side of the king bed, fast asleep, on his side curled up in the opposite direction. The rest of our stay, we kept the lights on all night. On the first floor, nothing like that happened to us.
MoreA lovely Inn with friendly staff. The breakfast is good and the Inn is well situated for exploring Charleston.
