Nature lovers will thoroughly enjoy this attraction, especially bird lovers. Wakodahatchee was built by the Water Utilities Department as a sanctuary for many species of birds, turtles and small native animals who drop by throughout the year. A three quarter mile boardwalk takes visitors around this beautiful site, where they can observe the wildlife in its natural habitat, possibly catching a glimpse of an alligator down in the water here and there. Free of charge and rarely crowded, Wakodahatchee is a lovely, relaxing escape, suitable for small children all the way up to seniors. Call ahead for hours.

tripadvisorSuch a great spot. This was my first visit here... wow, such a peaceful and wonderful place to be with nature. I'm just beginning to explore the parks and sanctuaries in the area and this one is so perfect... well designed and maintained, a lot of birds, and other wildlife, including aligators. Love the boardwalk layout. I got caught with it closing at 7pm, as I thought it closed at sundown. Look forward to returning early morning when they open... as well as early evening... so see the activity at both times of the day.VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
MoreWe decided to get out into nature, and this park did not disappoint. It seems to be a popular place and parking is limited so come early to get a spot. The park is basically a wetlands consisting of ponds and swamps. You traverse it via a walkway that make a large loop over the water. This is a bird watchers paradise as there are different kinds everywhere. You will also see Alligators, turtles, lizards and even rabbits if lucky (we saw them all). The park is well kept and enjoyable. If you are looking to get out and see nature, I highly recommend this park.

MoreCome here to see alligators, turtles, many types of birds, iguanas, and more! The boardwalk through the wetlands makes it easy to see it all. There are covered areas along it and benches for taking breaks and cooling down. The trees along it are tropical and beautiful. Don't miss this place!
