I booked an accessible room for myself and my daughter, who had surgery and would need crutches for a few days after. On the last night of our reservation, the hotel lost power during a storm. We were not at the hotel at the time. I called the hotel and the staff member said they had power but no elevator. Our room was on the second floor. I called later that night and still no elevator. Both conversations with the staff included the fact that my daughter was on crutches. At no time did anyone offer a different room or a refund. We returned the next morning, hoping to at least take a shower. Still no elevator. I walked upstairs and retrieved our luggage. I wanted to know how to request a refund. The staff member said I had to speak to the manager. I left a written message, emailed the hotel and I tried to call several times but was not able to speak to a manager. I contacted corporate customer care. Corporate's story changed, from first I wasn't charged, to they offered a refund or a room on the first floor but we opted to stay at the property. Where would we have stayed? In the lobby? In each message I received, they kept telling me to contact the hotel directly. I was credited 2,000 Choice Points as compensation for my experience. That same room costs around 15,000 points. I won't be using the points because I won't be staying at this location or any other Choice Hotel.

This hotel is OK but not exciting. Clean but basic & kinda dated. Enjoyed the hot breakfast, tho it was simple. Biggest complaint is that there was almost always NO ONE at the front desk throughout the day & the evening.

I recently stayed at the Comfort Suites in Smyrna, Tennessee. I wish I had read the reviews on Trip Advisor first. This hotel has a rating of 2.7 out of 5 (terrible). 58 out of 174 reviews give this property a 01 (Terrible) or 33.33%. 28 give it a 2 (poor). 86 of the 174 reviews give this property a Poor to Terrible rating I did NOT realize how bad this Comfort Suites was until I returned home and read other customer reviews and saw some of the pictures. (2.7 out of 5 = 54% or a grade of F) The first alert should have been on the day I checked in. On December 23 I arrived at the hotel early and ask if it would be possible to check in. The front desk clerk said that would NOT be possible as there were no clean rooms available and that housekeeping was in the process of cleaning. She also told me the hotel had been completely full the night before. I found that odd as there were only two or three cars in the parking lot when I arrived and no one else in the parking lot, lobby or hallway. I ask if she would call housekeeping to see if there was a room that had been cleaned. She said NO. I persisted and the front desk clerk did allow me to check in. I never actually saw a cleaning person during my stay. I was lied to during my check in. A red flag. On the second night of my stay (Christmas Eve) as I was preparing for bed around 10:00 p.m. I noticed a bug crawling on the bed. I was able to catch the bug, carried it downstairs to the manger on duty (he said his name was Sam). In addition before I went downstairs I pulled back the comforter and sheet. I found dried blood on the comforter. (I took photos of the bug and blood). When I brought to the manager's attention the finding a bug in my room he made an excuse that the past few days had been unseasonably warm after a cold spell and the bugs come out. WHAT??? I ask where they came from. He stated through the AC unit. As we continued to discuss these unacceptable, unhealthy conditions at the front desk I could not believe my eyes. A bug crawling up the wall behind the front desk manager. I ask how he intended to correct this very bad situation. He stated I could check out and receive a refund for the night. It was now close to 11:00 p.m. I ask him where was I to go on Christmas Even at this late hour. He had no answer. He did offer to put me in another room. At around midnight I repacked and moved. During the moving process there was an ice machine in a small hallway room close to the elevator. Multiple dead bugs on the floor which was further proof that there was no housekeeping or if there was they are doing a very POOR job. I have since contacted Choice Hotels and they have been of no help in addressing this disturbing and unhealthy situation. I have stayed in Comfort Suites before and have never had such a terrible experience. The hotel staff made it even worse. To top it off I contacted the hotel on Sunday, January 04 and ask to speak with the manager. The person answering the phone said the manager was not on site. He ask what I wanted to speak to the hotel manager about. I ask who I was speaking to me. This person would only say front desk staff. I told this person that I intend to file a complaint with the Health Department as the conditions as reported by many customer reviews is a health hazard. The front desk staff person said they would report me to the FBI for harassment. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. 2.7 out of 5 = 54% or a grade of F...

I recently stayed at the property. On Christmas even as I was preparing for bed I noticed a bug crawling on the bed. Up closer inspection I noticed blood on the comforter. I immediately contacted the manager who made an excuse that the weather had turned warm and the bugs had come out. WHAT?In addition on the day I arrived I stopped by to see if I could check in a little early. I was told there were not clean room and that the hotel had been full the night before. Both of these facts turned out to be a lie. Around 11:00 p.m. on Christmas Even I changed rooms which required me to repack everything and move. During the moving process I noticed a small room in front of the room I was moving into that contained the ice machine. Multiple dead bugs on the floor. Choice Hotels has been very little help in addressing this disturbing and unhealthy situation. Could be the reason there were no more than 5 cars in the parking lot during my stay. I would NOT recommend staying at this property. It also shows the lack of interests in corporate when it come to addressing such serious concerns.
