tripadvisorThis was my second visit to the Science Center. Staff are helpful and polite. Parking is easy and is located under the building ( be sure to put Connecticut Science Center parking in your GPS). We thoroughly enjoyed the activities and exhibits. The food was adequate. But the Blue Chip ice cream was great! Unfortunately my grandson left his hat behind but Security confirmed that they had it when I phoned later. We were able to retrieve it the next day.
MoreWonderful science museum for young and middle aged children. We spent approximately 2 hours there and enjoyed all of the exhibits.
MoreAlthough this museum seems to cater to school age children, there are plenty of things for adults to see and do there. I would start on the top floor (elevator) and work your way down using the stairs. A lot of the exhibits require substantial reading and the lighting isn't the greatest, so good reading glasses are a must. I'd also recommend that you call ahead to see if any part of the exhibit is closed, as we missed the space section due to ongoing maintenance. If you have young children they'll have a blast there and plan on a lengthy stay. If lots of small children running around isn't appealing you might want to consider going elsewhere. The parking garage is big but finding a spot wasn't easy.
MoreI didn't think this museum would be so completely children oriented, so, since it was 1/2 block from my hotel, I went. I was wrong...completely for children through grade-school age, although...I did try several of the exhibits for the fun of it. The best part was watching the kids so absorbed in all of the activities, and their parents involved with them. I spoke with a couple of the parents, and they said they were happily amazed at the wide range of exhibits their children wanted to get involved in. The butterfly room was an extra charge which wasn't worth it. Small room with many fewer butterflies than I expected.
MoreYou can't miss this landmark as you drive on I-91 through Hartford. After years of driving past we decided to visit with our three kids. We were disappointed. It is a hands-on science museum mainly aimed for children. The layout is strange and doesn't seem to utilize all of the space in the building well. They nickle and dime you for extra exhibitions and films even though the admission price is already over $20 per person. The place was a bit tired and understaffed - some of the hands on things were hard to figure out on your own or broken and there wasn't staff there to help. Maybe it was because we were on a weekend and it was very crowded (including a wait for some of the exhibits). Was generally disappointing.
