Reviews
tripadvisorNot sure why people reviewed this in summer and fall of 2013...by then, it had been purchased and renovated by Chapman University. It is off campus housing for Chapman students only. It is also very nice, completely remodeled. Please remove it from your listings, Trip Advisor!
MoreAs per the owners (I called them, have no relation to them), this property was sold to Chapman University and permanently closed in the fall of 2013. I'd stayed at this property many times since it opened over 30 years ago (it was built as a Brock Residence Inn). In that time it made a slow decline that any hotel would make in that amount of time, and it even survived a third of its property being taken away for the expansion of I-5. Having grown up in the hotel business (but not this property) I have to put in a good word for the most recent owners, who were trying very hard and had put significant resources into getting it affiliated with Quality Inn. The 3101 Chapman Avenue property formerly operated as a Residence Inn by Marriott, America's Best Value Inn and Suites, as an unaffiliated hotel, and closed as the Quality Suites Anaheim Stadium. I list these names so that people looking for these hotels will find this review and that it has closed for good.
MoreHave stayed at this hotel twice in the past two years, Last time was last, got in room some lights burned out, coffee maker plug would not stay in socket maintenance came to fix by bending plug pins, shower would not turn off completely & shower floor was slippery had to use towels to keep from fallings, maintenance fix to get water stopped was to turn the facets off as tight as he could to get it down to a drip, wife could not facet on to shower I had to use both hands to it on & this is suppose to be a ACCESSIBLE room, bathroom sink held up with a 2X4 no grab bars and to top it off a rodent run out from under the bed. They changed our room, new rom was just as bad however no rodent, TV reception poor, half the time the Wi-Fi is out of order, room smelled of old trash, had to spray room with Febreze & Lysol to get odor old, when housekeeping makes room up they block the door open with cart no wonder rodents & bugs get in, plus they throw the bed spread & pillows on the floor. Not sure they vacuumed the room not all. Breakfast food is not very good, eggs are round pre-cooked rubbery hockey pucks, gravy taste like wall paper paste, meat when they have it taste like soybean patties net real meat, orange juice is watered down. Elevator to 2nd. floor dinning area has been out of order for over 2 years, I think they just don't want anyone to use it cost money for electricity & they would have to clean it. Hotel is run by a mid-easterner doesn't seem to care to much about property up keep. Run it as cheap as possible is their goal!!
MoreUnfortunately our room was dirty, the refrigerator didn't freeze or chill. The couch was so dirty that I covered it with the sheet from the hide-a-bed. However the worst experience were the people (children) on the floor above us were either wrestling or running laps across the room. When we called to complain nothing was done about it. This went on for 3 days. We initially asked for a different room but the only thing available was in a noisier area near the parking lot. The breakfast staff keep everything refilled which is nice and they actually keep everything filled until the 10 am cut-off time. All of the cleaning staff that we encountered were very friendly. Some of the front desk staff were unfriendly and abrupt.
MoreCleanliness is suffering. I stay here regularly and it had been better in past. Price and location are attractive but you need to have lower standards. As others mentioned, furniture is tired. Bathroom was not clean. Shower head was filthy and toilet seat looked like it came from a truck stop. Will need to find a new local hotel.
