tripadvisorThird stay at this location. Clean hotel. Corner rooms with big windows are the best if you can get them. Front desk always friendly. Only issue was broken tile in bathroom next to tub.
MoreFirst time we stayed at Comfort Suites but it may be the last if this was representative of that brand. HVAC blew cold air onto the bed all night. It was loud & even on fan it sounded like water was sloshing around. My engineer husband reported it to the maintenance man as a possible clogged drain & he said it is supposed to have water in it! Small microwave, mini fridge without a freezer compartment. We brought cold & frozen food with us & housekeeping apparently turns the fridge off between guests so it took several hours to cool enough to put our food in. Breakfast was the same thing all 4 days with limited non-meat options & grits but no oatmeal packets for us Northerners. Only diet yogurt, no regular. Hot water for tea was tepid. On a positive note, breakfast staff was very patient with the busload of middle school kids on a class trip. Front desk staff was pleasant & helpful, except for the poor woman with a bad cold & cough who really should have stayed home or worn a mask. The room was clean. Price was cheaper than staying in Downtown Charleston but busy roads all around- no place to take a walk. Shopping was a short drive away.
MoreHotel was pleasant, quiet, and far from downtown Charleston. The staff was friendly and helpful; but the first hotel I've stayed at (over 60+ years) where room cleaning daily was not automatic, needed to request it). No local restaurants; I walked 1 and 1.6 miles, respectively, to find a Pho and a BBQ eatery (both excellent).
MoreOur family and extended family has used this hotel as our home base for years while visiting our family in Charleston. The property has declined significantly over the last 10 years. The beds have become uncomfortable, the toilets won’t flush properly, bathroom doors won’t close without sticking, and the security lock at the top of the many of the doors appear to have been ripped off. I could go on. Moving forward we will be staying elsewhere. The icing on the cake was a very rude elderly woman with red hair named Karen working the front desk. When I reported an issue, she was incredibly rude. This woman single has handedly lost the business for four different families that have stayed there for over 16 years every time we visited West Ashley since 2010.
MoreFirst class accommodations. Check in was a breeze and the guest host Siri was delightful. The room was more than very nice with a sitting area, bedroom area, and a very nice bathroom. If there is one complaint, the traffic noise outside the window was a distraction. Perhaps a room on the other side of the building would have eliminated that.
