tripadvisorTotal fraud - this guy cancels a couple hours before the booked trip. He offers a code to rebook. The code doesnt work. I email, no response. I call, his line is always busy. How are people like Captain Bob allowed to operate???
MoreWe booked a 3-hour sailing tour in March for our anniversary. The day before our reservation, Bob cancelled due to mechanical difficulties. It was too late to cancel our hotel, so we had to rush to make other plans. We rebooked for today and woke up to a text message from Bob saying he was cancelling due to circumstances beyond his control. He said he would be calling us, but never has. He is not answering our texts or calls. I would not recommend this company to anyone and will be requesting a full refund.
MoreDon't waste your time making arrangements with this guy, cause he probably won't follow through. I, my wife and two friends juggled our schedules so we could go to the Bay and enjoy this trip. We went down the day before and rented rooms in SF. AND it was a beautiful day!! AND he cancels! Says its too windy! But, guess what, we were on treasure island when we got his message, and, like I said, it was a beautiful day. We called him back immediately and called foul. We wanted the trip regardless of his thoughts on the wind. BUT the guy still to this day has never returned our call. The next day when our trip was scheduled was also an incredible day! AND the next day was incredible! Winds from 10 to 20 miles an hour. They picked up to 35 after 3pm, but that was well after our trip would have been over. Don't waste your money or effort on this creep!
MoreWe had a reservation for a 3-hour charter and Bob never showed up. We waited around for 45 minutes. Calls went to voicemail and emails were bounced back to us. Absolutely terrible.
MoreI should begin by saying that I'm an experienced sailor, so my opinion is tainted by certain factors. As such, I will let readers know that we never sailed and that the skipper had the auto tiller on the whole tour; in and out of the marina was the only time that he took the helm (said he burns those units out a lot - which means there's very little actual piloting going on). It was a beautiful day, very little wind, and the engine was on the whole time; I might be rusty, but I would have thought we could at least try, and that folks might have had a chance at the wheel - oh well. The boat is relatively small and the set up seemed good, but it also seemed that one is generally discouraged from going down below, except to use the head (bathroom); the skipper stood in the hatch almost the entire time. We would have liked to explore the bay more, but all we did was go out and around Alcatraz, then around the back of Treasure and into the harbor, so we were really glad that we didn't pay full price. It was a decent time, but I find it interesting that our experience of having our first sailing date cancelled while we were on our way there was not an entirely unusual incident. Although the guy claimed it was the first time, other reviewers have similar stories to tell; the office staff knew nothing, my husband had taken time off work, and we ended up at the marina wondering what happened. During our rescheduled sail, the skipper said he makes a lot of money selling the vouchers that we bought, and that half the people never use them. At any rate, this is an OK tour with a one-man operation that's probably a good fit for beginners, but unless paying full price translates into more service, then I suggest buying the discount tickets.
