tripadvisorWhat was supposed to be a romantic vacation for my boyfriend and I turned into an absolute nightmare. The condition of the Copley Square Hotel was appalling, and the lack of cleanliness, basic maintenance, and accountability from management was shocking. On our very first night, we requested a refund so we could leave and book another hotel, but our request was refused. We were subsequently moved between THREE different rooms, and every single one had serious issues. Our first room had visible mold on the walls and in the bathroom, filthy carpeting, a cracked and stained shower-tub, and stained sheets. Our second room was even worse, with makeup stains on the sink, dirty mirrors, what appeared to be bodily fluid stains on the toilet, a filthy shower, and stained bedding. Our third room had drains that would not drain properly and enormous stains on the sheets. The toilet handle was broken, and maintenance took OVER TWO HOURS to repair it, causing us to miss our dinner reservations. During the repair, toilet water was splashed throughout the area, and the maintenance worker repeatedly tracked dirt onto the carpet with his dirty work boots. When we requested clean sheets, we were handed replacements with MORE STAINS and expected to make the bed ourselves. We were even given Clorox wipes and expected to clean the bathroom ourselves. The problems continued until the very end of our stay. At approximately 2:00 a.m. on our final night, the toilet handle broke AGAIN, leaving the toilet unable to flush. We had to go downstairs to the lobby in the middle of the night just to use the bathroom. The body wash dispenser was empty, and the Wi-Fi did not work.On our final morning, we specifically requested fresh sheets from housekeeping, yet the cleaning crew made the bed using the same dirty sheets from the previous night. We were so disgusted that we went to Target and purchased our own sheets to sleep on. Imagine paying for a hotel and having to buy your own bedding because the property cannot provide clean sheets. At checkout, we politely asked the manager if we could photograph the original bathrooms because they looked nothing like the photos advertised on Expedia. Despite the rooms being unoccupied, she refused to let us take pictures. The discrepancy between the advertised accommodations and the actual condition of the rooms was unbelievable. The visible mold, unsanitary bathrooms, stained bedding, repeated maintenance failures, and complete lack of basic amenities raise serious concerns about this hotel's housekeeping and management standards. The rooms looked nothing like the accommodations portrayed in the hotel's TikTok advertisements and Expedia listing. We raised our concerns from the first night and repeatedly tried to resolve the situation, but we were refused a refund and left to deal with these conditions throughout our stay. We also lost valuable vacation time and missed dinner reservations because of maintenance issues that should never have occurred.**I would absolutely NOT recommend this hotel.** This was supposed to be a special, romantic trip, and instead we spent our time dealing with filthy rooms, broken fixtures, and unacceptable service. I would never have booked this property had I known what it was actually like. Management needs to seriously address the condition of this hotel and its basic standards of cleanliness and hospitality. Save yourself the frustration and book elsewhere.
MoreI stayed at Copley Square for a quick weekend in Boston and it was nothing short of perfect. You can't beat the location and the staff could not have been better (especially Jordan!). As a solo woman in a new city, safety is always my top concern and I had no worries here at all. Very clean, comfortable beds, awesome attention to detail. This hotel- running since the 1890's! - is full of charm and has such a unique vibe. If you're looking for a brand new shiny rocketship of a hotel, I'd look elsewhere - but if you want a true Boston experience with personal attention and more character than any hotel I've stayed in (and I've stayed in a lot), I cannot recommend The Copley Square more. I'm already planning my next trip!
MoreFor the price point, this hotel is seriously lacking. The bathroom was so tiny that I needed to do a dance around the door in order to get to the toilet and their idea of a bath towel is a hand towel - 2 hand towels! Absolutely ridiculous. It takes forever for the elevator to arrive on your floor so, if you're in a rush, plan on running the stairs. Also, the place has a musty smell which may be beyond their ability to influence seeing as the place is indeed old and in need of an upgrade. Do not recommend. I will say that the people at the front desk were lovely to interact with -- the single saving grace.
MoreGreat location for checking out the Back Bay. Clean rooms and very friendly and professional staff. From the minute we got there we felt the hospitality.
MorePerfect location and great experience for our fall trip to Boston. Steps from the Prudential center, lots of restaurants and shops as well as the farmer's market at Copley Square. Very glad we chose this property for our stay!
