Headquartered in New York City, the company also operates the smaller bookstore chains, such as Bookstop, Bookstar and B. Dalton Booksellers mostly in outdoor strip malls and shopping malls. Barnes & Noble is known for large, upscale retail outlets, many of which contain a caf serving Starbucks Coffee. Most of its stores also sell magazines, newspapers, DVDs, graphic novels, gifts, games and music. Barnes & Noble s stores average 25,000 square feet and carry up to 200,000 titles, as well as feature lounge chairs and reading tables. The company also owns Sterling Publishing, which annually publishes and distributes more than 1,100 new titles. Barnes & Noble maintains a location in Lansing, Mich.
