Ridemakerz Gifts ·$$

Ridemakerz is a DIY store for the little ones, where they can make their own car, truck or any other contraption on four wheels. To begin, kids start by choosing a chassis of the model they like, then you add different parts to the car. Some of the chassis choices can be transformed into 'Monster Truck' status and girls shouldn't worry either, because they have all kinds of designs. The cars are 1:18 scale models and you can take them home when you're finished building them.

They aren’t upfront about the cost of the whole deal. You start with picking out a car body. The price shows between $30-40 so you’re thinking okay that’s not too bad. By the time your kid picks out that and gets excited THEN you find out everything cost extra, the rims, the tires, THE BATTERIES, every part to make the remote control car cost extra. The rechargeable batteries weren’t even charged. By the time it was done was a $150 car. The workers were egging him on the whole time

Go for the experience, don’t expect a long-lasting, high quality product. It’s fairly expensive, but worth doing for an automotive enthusiast as a treat. The good- Fast paced “pit stop” type experience. Some describe it as rushed, but I believe that’s the point. Lots of options to choose from, really allows the customer to get nearly exactly what they wantThe bad- Options are expensive, and the end product is mediocre quality. If it’s played with often as a toy, it won’t last long. If it’s displayed, or played with carefully and infrequently, it will be fine. The REALLY bad- I doubt it’s common, but I would be remiss to not mention the possibility of battery failure. We bought a spare battery pack (7.2v). Plugged in to charge and after a minute or two it started smoking. Thank goodness my 6yo saw it and alerted me. I threw it outside where it continued getting hotter. Tossed it into the wet grass for a few hours and it seemed ok to transport. It never produced a flame, but likely would have had she not noticed the smoke. Took it back to the store and it was exchanged no questions asked. Again, I doubt this is a frequent occurrence but it should not be charged unattended at least for the first charge.

I’d wanted one if these for quite a few years, but kept talking myself out of it. This year for my birthday (5/9) and Mother’s Day, I decided to spoil myself and get one. Torie was very patient and helpful while I took FOREVER to decide on what I wanted. I love my new ride!
