Reviews
tripadvisorGreat stay. Very clean and modern rooms...very spacious...everyone at the Inn could not have been nicer.. Great breakfast as well.
MoreOverall, a pretty good hotel with a good location just North of the outer belt. For us, it was close to Carmel Center for the Chriskindlemarkt and minutes from a large selection of restaurants and stores. We arrived around six on a Wednesday and their social night was going on with Bingo, so the desk response was a little slow. A bit disappointed that I was not given an upgrade given my Platinum Elite status (I checked after check-in and there were quite a few larger rooms available for the length of our stay).Check-in was straightforward and our room was very clean. There is a full-blown upgrade of the hotel in progress, and we got one of the newer rooms on the second floor. Our room (249) was a bit away from the elevators and pretty quiet with a view overlooking the courtyard. The small kitchen was well equipped, though the coffee maker was a standard one and did not work very well. We are more used to a single-used coffee maker. The refrigerator was good sized and there was complimentary microwave popcorn. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the heat/AC even had a deflector to keep the heat/cold from blowing right up the curtains. The staff was very nice and pointed out some local restaurants and activities. The social hour was good with free beer/wine and light snacks (Italian night with meatballs, arancini, and a Tuscan-style bread).Breakfast was very good with a yogurt bar, fresh coffee, make your own waffles, tea, juice, a few cereals, and a large selection of scones. The breakfast/lobby area was very comfortable and there is a nice den area with comfortable chairs and a couch in front of an enormous television.
MoreLet me preface this review by saying two things: 1) this is the first time I've felt like my experience was polar opposite from what online reviews lead me to believe! And 2) in my entire life, I’ve never checked into a hotel, surveyed the scene, and promptly checked right back out. Until now. Staybridge Suites Indianapolis-Carmel, congratulations - you’ve set a new (and impressively low) bar. From the moment we pulled into the lot, the red flags started waving like we’d just driven into a NASCAR pit row at a county fair. One gentleman was performing what looked like full-blown mechanical surgery on his car, hood up, vehicle on jacks, tools scattered everywhere. Another man, clearly on his personal Tour de Marlboro & Miller Lite, had all four doors open and was circling the building like a chain-smoking Olympic hopeful. Safe family environment? Not exactly. The lobby didn’t help. Dark, silent, and eerily lifeless, it felt less like a hotel and more like a funeral home that lost power. No music, no warmth, just… void. Later, when we walked into a competitor’s lobby, the background music and welcoming atmosphere made me realize what this place was missing: literally any sign of hospitality.Maintenance? Let’s just say this property hasn’t merely “fallen behind.” It’s gone AWOL. Trim pieces broken, scuffs on doors, windows with streaks that looked like modern art gone wrong, and a wall-mounted hand sanitizer dispenser so neglected it had grown a white fuzzy life form. I half-expected it to ask for spare change. And the fire alarm in the front desk area? Held together with scotch tape. Because nothing screams “your safety matters to us” like dollar-store adhesives keeping the fire system alive. The cafeteria - a place where food should inspire confidence - instead displayed a collection bin of dirty dishes at 7:15 PM. Breakfast had ended that morning. Lunch and dinner aren’t even offered. Translation: those dishes had been aging all day. For added flair, a grimy vacuum cleaner was stored right next to the food service counters. Nothing whets the appetite quite like thinking about where that vacuum’s been. The pool? Imagine a swamp in a Motel 6 horror flick. A greasy film floated on top of the water like a bad salad dressing, and the surrounding area looked like it hadn’t been touched by a mop since the Bush administration. The sticky blackened tile floor was the cherry on this very unsanitary sundae. The business center was more of a junk drawer than a workspace, with stray flyers littering the area. And the soda machine looked like it hadn’t been cleaned since Y2K.Finally, the room. The best I can say is that it may have been nice… in 2010. But after 15 years of hard use, it wore its age like a cautionary tale. Outdated furnishings, worn surfaces, and a permanent “funk” that clung to the air like a bad memory. I wouldn’t have let my kids set foot outside the room alone, and even staying inside felt questionable. So we did the only logical thing: left. Checked in around 5:10 PM. Returned at 7:00 PM after dinner, bags still in the car, and asked to check out. The clerk asked why, and I was polite. His response? To tell me he thought I had “enough money that a refund shouldn’t matter.” Bold customer service strategy - insult the paying guest and keep their money. Ultimately, they refunded the remaining nights but forced us to pay for the first one… even though we never so much as unpacked a toothbrush. We drove down the street to the Residence Inn, which was cleaner, safer, cheaper, and infinitely more welcoming. In short: everything Staybridge Suites was not.If you value cleanliness, safety, and sanity, run - don’t walk - away from this place. It was seriously gross.
MoreDirty, room was not cleaned hair on the sink towels and tables. All different color hairs too so who knows how long it's been there and clearly wasnt from the person cleaning.Blood stain on carpet and tooth paste and was either not vacuumed or not vacuumed well. Pubic hair in bathroom. 100% tables were not wiped cause hair and dust was visible . paid 227 which is unreasonable for the cleanliness. They said no other rooms available and had to stay here cause nothing else In the area available. The staff was very nice, but the cleanliness grossed me out so much couldn't even sleep. I expect that in a hostel but not hotel with good reviews.... not sure why there are so many good reviews or if they gave me an unclean room... but weren't super apologetic...they did say sorry they don't have another room But also hotels.com said more rooms available that day so probably just not willing to give me a larger room. It also appeared someone had been sitting on the bed ... so really not clear if sheets were changed especially with the hair everywhere ...Will not be back. The TV was also broken.
MoreThe was the pinnacle of comfort and hospitality on my trip to Indiana. After staying in the excellent Holiday Inn, Wabash, IN that is a part of this chain, I was thrilled to see the same top quality bed linen, plentiful and soft pillows, quality sheets and towels, large kitchenette/full refrigerator with freezer, large television, commendable lighting, secure locks on the doors. Every staff member greeted me no matter how many times I had to travel from the hotel. I know little about the points system but hope to learn more. The breakfast was far and beyond anything I have ever seen in my travels. When I spoke to the desk person, the television remote was quickly replaced with fresh batteries. The phone is unconnected or the cord may be broken but I'm sure that will be repaired after I depart. Excellent accommodation. I will return.
