tripadvisorAs soon as she was old enough to walk, this was Baby D’s favorite outdoor spot in Ann Arbor. There are about a dozen outdoor cages with birds of prey that have been too injured to release in the wild. The owls, hawks and vultures would hold her attention for ages. They even have a bald eagle. They recently added a nature play area with places to climb and 2 slides. They also have a water play area with pumps that are on during the warmer months (late May-September). Consider bringing a change of clothes if you have a child that likes to get wet. We liked to bring a picnic to snack on at their tables. No food sales on site, and bathroom facilities are limited (maybe a port-a-potty). They have loads of trails to explore too.
MoreGreat place to go! Also great when they visit, they bring LOTS of fascinating animals! Highly recommend!
MoreWe had a nice visit to the center. Just a few things to note...the Critter House is only open on Sundays and there aren’t any public restrooms. Also, it is free to get in! We visited the raptor area and hiked the trails to the pond in about 45 minutes. My kids loved it and we plan to visit again in the summer.
MoreThe center has free parking. Admission is free but there is a donation box at the main building if you would like to support the center. The staff is friendly and helpful. The center is a wide spread preserve with topical buildings scattered about. The highlight for me was the raptor center with about a dozen birds including a bald eagle, a peregrine falcon, and more. There is a small gift shop in the main building.
MoreWe really enjoyed the field trip today. The staff are very friendly and work very well with small kids. The bathrooms were always close by. We started at the puppet show and worked our way through the trails and learning about nature. It did appear that some of the buildings were locked, unless you’re on a tour with employees. I would recommend a field trip/tour for sure, so that you get to see everything. It looked like all of the kids enjoyed themselves and the staff were easily able to keep them entertained. We’d love to come back another time.
