Mercer Slough Nature Park Park

Out on the southeast edge of Bellevue sits one of the city's largest and most spectacular parks. At about 300 acres, it is home to the largest natural wetland on Lake Washington. This makes it a natural attraction to a variety of species that you probably would not run into otherwise. More than 100 hundred bird species call it home and coyotes, beavers and muskrats sometimes reveal themselves. Guided tours are provided throughout the year.

Part of the family rented canoes from Enatai Beach Park and proceeded though the calm waterways. Lots of colorful birds, including osprey, and a few amphibians. The senior members walked on a boardwalk trail to meet the boaters at what was once a blueberry farm , now a park filled with ripe delicious fruit, free for the picking. Bring buckets and mosquito repellant. Good family outing.

There was a lot right about this park. It's nice, it's gorgeous, and the trails are rambling and beautiful. It's a little adventure all to its own. The parking is actually really far away, though, so you may need to use Google Maps to find the right trail to get you there.

This park is beautiful. I enjoy walking here but there's one downside... a huge one. It's a heaven for mosquitoes! And they're FIERCE! They'll chase you for a good amount of distance if you run.

Path takes you along the slough with a few educational graphics. There are choices to make as the path goes in different directions. One divergent path took us along a blueberry farm, leaves turning a beautiful scarlet. Definitely worth the walk. We’ll visit again and take a different path next time.

Once we figured out that the entrance shown on Google Maps was no longer open due to construction, we found the (hidden) parking lot and the rest was paradise. Such a nice stroll along boardwalks and loamy paths, in the midst of ferns, berries, and evergreens. Great place for families!
