tripadvisorMy husband and I recently spent a night here when picking our son up from camp at UVA. Everyone at the inn was extremely warm, helpful, and welcoming. They were ready with interesting history of the property and the best places in the area to visit. The location to the downtown area was very convenient. The room where we stayed (the Brewton Suite) was spacious, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. Breakfast in the morning was delicious, served with tasty local coffee.
MoreOur stay at The Inn at Court Square was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that Candace runs a truly top‑tier establishment—every detail reflects care, warmth, and a commitment to hospitality that’s increasingly rare.We were greeted at check‑in by Pat, who not only welcomed us with genuine kindness but also happens to be the inn’s pastry chef. Her cookies gave us a tasty welcome to the inn and her attentiveness set the tone for the rest of our stay.Later that evening, we had the pleasure of chatting with Elizabeth, the night auditor. She was friendly, engaging, and such a delight to talk with over a glass of wine. It felt like catching up with an old friend.Breakfast the next morning was a highlight thanks to John, who prepared a delicious meal that exceeded expectations. His warmth and skill made the morning feel special. And of course, Pat's skills shined again with some of the best banana bread we've tasted. We were sad to have to rush through the meal due to having timed tickets to nearby Monticello. The inn itself is two buildings that are former residences in a very historic part of Charlottesville. Our room was beautifully appointed, with lots of period pieces and one of the most comfortable beds we’ve slept in during our travels. When the air conditioning in our original room wasn’t working properly, the staff proactively offered us a new room—even though we hadn’t said a word about it. Candace had a workman there that evening trying to get the AC up and running. That level of attentiveness speaks volumes about the culture of service here.Every member of the team made us feel welcomed and cared for, and the inn itself is charming, elegant, and thoughtfully maintained. We left already talking about when we could return. If you’re visiting Charlottesville, do yourself a favor and stay here. This is hospitality at its finest. Our only regret is that we only got one night at this amazing place!
MoreWe stayed at the Inn at Courthouse Square on our way south for a break from winter in the northeast. The inn’s website says it is the oldest building in historic Charlottesville. It’s a lovely experience staying in an old B&B with lovingly decorated living spaces. There is a parking lot behind the inn. Like most B&Bs in old buildings, there is no elevator so pack light for your stay. It is across the street from Courthouse Square where there is a sign describing the history of the location, and two blocks from the Charlottesville mall where many restaurants are located ( it is not an indoor suburban shopping mall but a charming street with shops, restaurants and no cars). Breakfast was lovely, good quality and not too much food ( more was available for those with large appetites but at 70, that was not us). We found a great coffee shop 3 blocks away that roasted their own coffee. We would go back if we return to Charlottesville.
MoreMy husband and I stayed here for a long weekend, and what a fun experience! Candace made our visit an absolute pleasure - I cannot say enough great things about her and her beautiful B&B. We stayed in the Susannah Fowler room, which was painted a beautiful yellow with teal accents coming from much of the furniture. The bed was large and comfortable, and we slept perfectly. I've seen other reviewers fondly mention the breakfasts, and they are right. Every morning we were greeted with gracious service, excellent coffee, and amazingly tasty food. In the evening, Candace was often around, so we got a chance to chat, have some wine, and talk restaurant recommendations. She even pulled a favor and got us into dinner at a spot that seemingly had no availability :) If you're going to Charlottesville, stay at The Inn.
MoreAt the end of a long day of driving, our host Candace was waiting out front of her lovely inn guiding us where to park. Helping with our luggage, she showed us to our room and sat us down afterwards for a drink and snack. She helped us decide where to dine and made the best suggestion within walking distance and called them to let us know we were on our way. Her warm welcome and helpful advise, let us feeling very well cared for. The room was cozy, clean and comfy. Breakfast the next morning in her dining area was perfect, with equally caring staff John and Pat. It was the perfect start to a wonderful road trip.
