Overlooking the East River, Carl Schurz Park surrounds Gracie Mansion, home of the mayor of the City of New York. The views are great, and the promenade along the water is a popular place for a leisurely stroll. The gardens are gorgeous in full bloom, and offer many twisting lanes and lawns. A basketball court and playground are available to the public, and the open spaces are perfect for bikes or in-line skates. During the summer, there is a water sprinkler for children. Cal the Park Conservation Association for more details.

Reviews
tripadvisorThis park runs along the East River on the Upper East Side. There is a highway nearby, so you get some traffic noise. But you also get some very good river views and views of the Manhattan skyscrapers. A bit off the beaten path.
MoreLovely park with lots of activities going on. Plenty of places for kids to play. Nice areas for just sitting and reading or watching the world go by. Unfortunately spoiled by the all pervasive inconsiderate dog owners, who take their pets on to lawns which are clearly marked as off limits to pets. So the areas set aside for those who would like to relax without stepping in something horrible or let their kids play on grass not soaked by plant destroying dog urine are out of luck. It’s not policed despite being right next to the mayors residence.
MoreA beautiful little park adjacent to Gracy Mansion has beautiful views of Queens and Roosevelt Island. I took friends and relatives here last year, and they marveled at the East River and Vernon Blvd on the other side. This park is a must if you visit the Upper East Side
MoreCarl Schurz Park is a nice neighborhood Park on the Upper East Side. Hidden along the East River you can find it off of 86th and York. Lots of walkways with views of the river and if you walk up to 88thst you can get a nice view of Gracie Mansion. Dog owners love the park as it has 2 nice sized dog runs. Plenty of park benches, so grab a coffee or an ice cream and enjoy the people watching.
MoreBeautiful park on the Upper East Side on the water. We walked the entire length of the park and it is spectacular!
