tripadvisorWe bought a very expensive bottle of mead. I asked about a tasting(they are offered) no pricing mentioned anywhere. The woman didn't think it was important to mention that it was $12 for a small tasting until after it was poured and I already had it to my lips. We paid it, of course but very bad business practice. Based on that, I do not recommend this business
MoreI ducked in here in august while walking along king street. I thought it was an ice gram shop from the window display. The staff was friendly although I only bought a fizzy lemonade with honey.
MoreWe really enjoyed our stop at this shop. I had never tasted mead before and doing a mead tasting was fun. We also got to try different kinds of honey. Pumpkin whipped honey was delish. It was a nice little break in the day.
MoreI've heard of Savannah Bee Company before, I've even bought some of their products, so I wasn't planning on going to this store for general shopping. A friend recommended going for their mead tasting, and it was amazing. The gentlemen who took us through the tasting were extremely knowledgeable about mead and really told a story through our 45-minute tasting experience. He was even nice enough to provide us with a tasting of an extra mead that he personally enjoyed even though it wasn't a part of the tasting flight. I enjoyed the tasting and one of the meaderies in the tasting so much so, I bought a bottle of it when I got home. This was awesome. Very inexpensive.
MoreWe wandered in with the idea of doing a tasting after a disappointing walk through the Charleston Market. My husband is not a huge fan of mead generally but my throat had been scratchy and I love mead so he talked me into sharing a $14 tasting. We were served by the lovely Stevie who is a self proclaimed history geek and knew tons about the history of mead and the different brews we were trying. She also had some good suggestions for us about where else we might try during our visit to Charleston. Her enthusiasm for the product and establishment was obvious and it was a pleasure to spend some time chatting with her. She even gave us a final taste that sealed the deal and we ended up purchasing a bottle based on the feedback we had given her about the other meads we had tried. If you’re lucky enough to visit Savannah Bee in Charleston when she’s at the bar I’d highly recommend a tasting!
