The Barracks Road Shopping Center has many top-notch stores. The two main grocery stores are Harris Teeter and Kroger. There are many restaurants including Five Guys, Peter Chang and Chick Fil A. In addition, there are many wonderful clothing stores such as American Eagle, J.Crew and Old Navy. This shopping center is located close to the campus of the University of Virginia.

I only went because my brother and his wife have a Panera Bread card. I imagine he receives points. Upon walking up to the door, it was nasty. Full of finger marks. Then once inside, greeted with food on the floor, under tables, nasty and sticky tables were evident, and there was something also sticky spilled on the floor. I ordered Asian chicken salad. Doused with dressing, and 2 chunks of, what appeared to be, dull looking, perhaps old chicken. The bathroom had a sign about how they sanitize. Right. Wads of toilet paper on the floor, and just nasty all around. Sure didn't make my lunch go down any easier. I will never go to this location again!! It has become a mere hang out for college students doing work on their computers. Consequently, they see nothing, and care even less.

a minute agoNEWHORRIBLE! It was Valentine's Day, Feb. 14, 2023 and me & my newly wed wife were returning to RSAT to where we had shared our first date night dinner together back in Oct. 2022. I had made a dinner reservation for a booth online and Google placed it in my cell phone calendar confirmed! Well, upon arrival, seven minutes early, I was met by this young girl & upon checking her system, she told me we had to wait for a booth 15- 20 minutes, to which, I replied, What was the point of a reservation for a booth then? That's what a reservation does- it reserves in advance your table, or in this case, a booth. She got snippy & walked off smirking - this is a restaurant (?) Whatever that means? Upon her return, I asked for a manager, the manager never showed & I confronted her unprofessional demeanor & dismissive attitude! I said: Excuse me, I know this is a restaurant! I wasn't coming for an oil change! Another immature adult/child employee came up as I was saying: I'm never coming back here again & she laughed, smirked & starting chapping [yeah]! What a bunch of idiots!!! I quickly pointed out that whenever Ralph Sampson, himself, ever made a reservation, he wasn't treated this way! This place is nothing short of an over-glorified college soda shop with the bar on the bigger side of the room than the restaurant area. If you are looking for a pleasant dinning experience with a reservation, this place with it's obviously low paid immatures is not for you!!!

Barracks Road Shopping Center is that classic shopping center that as trends come and go has stood the test of time with an attractive layout, great location and character such as the magnolias that ring the shopping center. My memories go back to 1963 with my 1st visit with my parents during a trip to the University of Virginia Medical Center. Over the years and quite a few visits, it has consistently evolved staying relevant while not feeling like you are at a traditional shopping mall. Kroger and Harris Teeter sort of anchor the ends of the property and the shopping available is a nice mix including local stores like the Virginia Shop as well as at least 10 restaurants. Barracks Road has beautiful brick everywhere and has something for everyone with it's in town location and colonial cool atmosphere.

Barracks Road is a vibrant shopping mall anchored by two grocery stores. Strip malls litter the US landscape but Barracks Road has a nice mixture of stores and is better than most.
