tripadvisorI'm new to the Kansas City area, and although it isn't perfect or updated, it's dark, has good drink specials, and every one of their employees are awesome. Aftershock is where I would love to see all my favorite bands. I'm big into the live music scene and it's big enough to fit a crowd, but smaller than a huge venue. The parking does suck because if you don't get a close parking spot you'll have to walk in the dark... BUT everyone going to rock and metal shows are always nice and look out for one another... (mostly). I forgot my ID one time and I would of had to dive 30 mins back home to get it and they just upcharged me (as a minor) to get in. I also like that some rock shows are guided towards the younger crowd, and they allow under 21 to get in with of course the upcharge. They are also always very responsive on their facebook page. They actually really care about the local artists also. I love this place!
MoreI can't fault the employees of this bar for what the place is, a dark music venue. My complaint was that we were supposedly at a Christian concert and my ears left with a huge dose of cussing. I will not be back with my kids or by myself for that matter. (I will say that my teenagers were just there for a concert and did not see the same things their mother did...they thought it was great.)
MoreThis was my first visit here. I saw Randy and Mr. Lahey from Trailer Park Boys. I enjoyed the show, but it was very crowded and this place had very few places to sit. I drank a whiskey sour and it was very weak. It could have been better, but it could have been much worse.
MoreThis is a fairly small, almost dive bar type of music venue. I suppose one could call it intimate, but it felt a little seedier than that to me. Overall, not a bad place to catch a show, and they do bring in some nationally know bands from time to time. The one GOOD thing about them, is they are a big supporter of local talent.I rate this as average, only because there is nothing exceptional about them.Pretty well lit, in a mostly safe area of town. If a band you like is playing there, I would recommend you go see them
